Full job description

Working as part of the Service and Distribution function, the Warehouse Operative supports the day-to-day running of warehouse and yard operations across both Murdock Road and Fleming Road sites.

The role is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, picking, and despatch of goods, ensuring materials and finished products are handled efficiently and in line with operational, safety, and quality standards.

The Warehouse Operative works closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and wider team to ensure the smooth flow of goods to support production requirements and customer deliveries within a regulated environment.

This role is a fixed term contract for 6 months at 27 hours per week :

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 07:00 - 16:00 with flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness absence if required.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Goods In & Stock Control

  • Unload inbound deliveries using forklift trucks and manual handling techniques
  • Check and book in materials accurately, ensuring all deliveries match accompanying documentation
  • Store materials and finished goods in designated locations using warehouse systems (IFS), maintaining stock accuracy and traceability
  • Support stock rotation and ensure materials are stored in line with company procedures
  • Conduct stock counts and inventory checks on raw materials and finished goods as required

Picking, Packing & Despatch

  • Pick finished goods for customer orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to order requirements
  • Build mixed pallets for customer orders, ensuring correct quantities and safe stacking
  • Load outbound vehicles safely and efficiently using forklift equipment
  • Pick and supply raw materials to production lines in a timely manner to support manufacturing operations
  • Ensure all despatch documentation is accurate and uploaded to systems in line with company procedures

Warehouse & Yard Operations

  • Operate Counterbalance and Bendi forklifts safely and in accordance with training and company procedures
  • Support safe vehicle movements on site, including acting as a trained banksman where required
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and yard environment at all times
  • Follow all Health & Safety, environmental, and operational procedures

Team & Operational Support

  • Work collaboratively with the Warehouse Supervisor and wider team to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Support the smooth flow of goods between warehouse, yard, and production areas
  • Respond to operational priorities and changing demands in a flexible manner
  • Undertake ad hoc duties as required to support the wider Service and Distribution function

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a busy warehouse environment
  • Valid Counterbalance and Bendi Forklift Licences
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Banksman trained (or willingness to be trained)
  • Experience of using warehouse management or ERP systems (IFS desirable)
  • Good understanding of warehouse processes, including goods in, stock control, picking, and despatch
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling stock and documentation
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a warehouse setting

Pay: £19,288.00 per year
