Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Waste Operative to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the bin stores are tidy and well-organised. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on environmental sustainability and operational excellence. The Waste Operative will be responsible for ensuring waste management procedures are followed safely and effectively, contributing to the cleanliness and safety of our facilities.

Duties

  • Collect and correctly dispose of waste materials from designated areas within the site using appropriate equipment.
  • Ensure waste is sorted correctly in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of estate areas - litter pick where needed and liaise with residents for commercial waste collections.
  • Patrol the estate and make sure everything is up to standard and submit reports.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
  • Support recycling initiatives by segregating recyclable materials from general waste streams.
  • Conduct light maintenance jobs e.g. touch-up paint and changing light bulbs.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in waste management highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly as part of daily duties.
  • Physical fitness to undertake manual handling tasks throughout shifts.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail when sorting and disposing of waste materials.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in all aspects of work.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required, including early mornings or late afternoons if necessary. This role offers an engaging opportunity for individuals committed to environmental responsibility and operational efficiency within a supportive team environment.
