We're looking for a General Assistant (Mobile) to join our team, helping to maintain safe, clean and welcoming healthcare environments across a number of NHS sites in Houghton Primary Care Centre, Brinkburn Crescent, Houghton-le-Spring.


  • £13.04 per hour, £25,495.00 per annum, pro-rata
  • 16 hours per week
  • Sat & Sun 6am till 2pm
  • Driving licence is required, as traveling between sites might be needed
  • DBS check will be conducted, training will be provided

About the role:

The role of a General Assistant is to deliver general assistant services to the required standard and specification; providing the highest standards of service delivery and working practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely delivery of a full range of directly provided general assistant services to include
  • Collection and movement of patients to and from wards
  • Deliver linen to wards and removed spoiled linen to laundry/laundry store.
  • Removal and storage of clinical and other household waste.
  • Receipt, movement and storage of blood, specimens.
  • Undertake a range of cleaning duties to include operating electrical floor cleaning equipment, steam cleaning equipment in line with the national cleaning specification.
  • To ensure all grounds, car parks and gardens are clean and tidy. In extreme weather salt/grit paths and car parks

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Where you’ll be

Houghton Primary Care Centre, Brinkburn Crescent, Houghton-le-Spring.
Travel: The role will require travel to other sites within the Sunderland area as and when required.
