LKAB Minerals UK are looking for an experienced Plant Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the operations for the Flixborough site.

In this role, you will define, implement, effectively manage and control all manufacturing and maintenance resources, Health and Safety systems, Environmental systems, Quality systems and procedures in order to meet the requirements of the company business plan, and all other legislative requirements. ensuring that all production and maintenance is planned in such a way as to always provide full availability of finished product.

Your aim within this role is to accomplish plant objectives in the areas of Safety, Environmental, Recovery, Quality, Reliability, Production, Efficiency, Cost Reduction and Innovation, alongside efficient planning, and proactive strategy development for optimisation of plant, equipment and reports.

This role will have close collaboration with all roles across the Flixborough site, as well as working with the performance team and other plant managers to ensure best practice across all sites.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the health and safety of all reporting staff and their associate reports for the Works; adherence to local and government legislation and LKAB company policy on health and safety; ensure all tasks are sufficiently risk assessed and safe systems of work developed, and suitable control measures implemented.
  • Ensures adherence to and compliance with, both company standards and those of the 9001, 14001 and 45001 company accreditations
  • Responsibility for the efficient planning and execution of production orders in the timeliest and cost-effective method.
  • Have absolute responsibility for the management of stock; recording; data analysis and loss / gain analysis.
  • Provide balanced and objective proposals through capital investment requisitions to improve the current processing ability to increase availability and reduce waste.
  • Interacts daily with Operations, Commercial, Sales and fellow Works Managers to learn and share knowledge of the plant operations to improve overall performance.
  • Play an active role in the Lean Program to improve efficiency within the business unit and the wider company.
  • Closely monitors real time and historical plant data from log sheet, lab analysis, plant inspections, etc. to detect abnormalities and to optimise plant operation.
  • Performs and/or facilitates training for all personnel as needed by both LKAB Minerals Ltd and legal requirements.
  • Tracks and reports consumption and efficiencies.
  • Performs and/or contributes to thorough process reviews, Hazard and Operability Studies and analysis on current operations and on proposed changes to plant equipment, processes and working systems.
  • Closely monitors quality of raw materials, process chemicals, and finished product processes.
  • Minimise all business losses as reasonably practicable.

Location and commitments

  • Based onsite at LKAB Minerals Ltd – Flixborough Industrial Estate, Scunthorpe, DN15 8SF
  • Some national and international travel may be required with suitable notice.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive experience managing plant and people in the minerals processing or similar industries.
  • A technical or Engineering background at HND level or higher would be an advantage although not essential.
  • Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safety or NEBOSH Certificate would also be advantageous but again not essential as full support will be offered to the right candidate.
