Full job description

Job Title: Team Leader – Hygiene
Pay: £12.71 overtime after 42.5 hours at 125%, unsociable hours 00:00-06:00 at 15%.
Pension: Company pension scheme
Travel: Own transport required
Hours: Wednesday 06:00 - 13:30 Thursday – Saturday 06:00 - 18:00

Job Purpose

To act as a responsible and proactive member of the team, supporting Shift Leaders by supervising hygiene and waste-related tasks within designated work areas. The role involves leading by example, ensuring safe and hygienic practices, and helping to maintain production standards and housekeeping in accordance with company policy.

Job Brief

We are looking for a capable and motivated Team Leader to manage our hygiene and waste operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day tasks, motivating staff, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards. This position requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

As the main point of contact for team members, you must foster a collaborative environment, resolve issues promptly, and ensure compliance with all relevant procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Operational:

  • Ensure all production waste material and water are processed promptly and correctly.
  • Sort fust and recyclable packaging according to company procedures and store in designated areas.
  • Report any maintenance problems to Shift Leaders.
  • Organise hygiene areas and maintain housekeeping standards per company policy.
  • Check all equipment/machinery before use, ensuring it is clean and in good working order.
  • Support quality control by ensuring finished products meet internal standards.

Leadership:

  • Create an inspiring team environment with open communication.
  • Set clear goals, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor progress.
  • Motivate team members and encourage a “clean as you go” culture.
  • Recognise and reward high performance.
  • Address conflicts or issues proactively.
  • Identify and support training needs.

Safety & Hygiene:

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
  • Minimise floor waste/foliage and promptly clean any spillages.
  • Ensure team members work safely and hygienically, in line with induction training and handbook policies.
