The role
If you’re versatile, self-motivated and driven, with experience in the Grounds Maintenance industry or other similar, strenuous and outdoor work, join Southern Housing as a Grounds Maintenance Operative.
As a part of our Sussex team, based out of Haywood Way in Hastings, you will help Southern Housing maintain our estates and neighbourhoods across the County by completing works including:
- Grass Cutting.
- Seasonal Pruning.
- Weed Control and Invasive Plant Management.
- Landscaping.
- Jet Washing.
- Graffiti Clearance.
- Waste Management.
- Effective monitoring of our Water Ways.
- Garden Clearances.
You will be provided with all the required tools, uniform and PPE to complete the role safely and effectively, plus dedicated fleet vehicles for use during working hours.
What you’ll need
As part of a tight-knit team, you will be required to work closely with others, supporting colleagues both within our and other teams across the business. You must also be extremely customer focused, having great interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with colleagues, partners and in particular, our residents.
However, you will also need the ability to work alone, be self-motivated and able to solve technical challenges as they arise on site. Customer Satisfaction is a priority whilst working Efficiently and Productively with Value for Money in mind.
Working safely is paramount and you would be required to complete, understand and follow written Risk and CoSHH Assessments to keep you and those around you safe.
A good level of numeracy and literacy would be an advantage, as would an experience of using mobile devices. Stock control and the accurate recording of work, time and costs is an important requirement of the role.
Being physically fit with a passion and pride in your work is key. Technical skills within the above specified areas of work are preferred, but not essential as training will be provided. You will be required to drive a 3.5 tonne tipper and other various, smaller fleet vehicles daily, with the ability to pull trailers, both safely and legally. A full UK driving licence is required with at least 2 years driving experience.
If you’re passionate about the work you do and share our ambitions, we look forward to hearing from you.
