Full job description

Role Overview:

Swift Heating Solutions is seeking a driven and detail-focused Technical Manager to take full ownership of the technical delivery and development of our renewable heating installations. This role replaces our outgoing manager and is critical not only for ensuring technical quality — but also for driving improvements in margin, team efficiency, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:1. Technical Oversight & Commissioning

  • Commission all heat pump systems to MCS standards
  • Provide technical support across the sales, operations, and install teams
  • Be the go-to contact for in-house technical queries and system faults

2. Install Pack & Process Ownership

  • Review and update the install process to reduce inefficiencies
  • Ensure repeatable, high-quality installs across every property type

3. Margin & Performance Accountability

  • Identify overruns, material waste, or install delays

4. Quality Control & Handover

  • Implement a consistent QA/signoff procedure before every job is marked complete
  • Reduce customer issues and repeat visits through better checks
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and industry regulations

5. Engineer Development & Training

  • Mentor new engineers and subbies during onboarding
  • Deliver in-house training on install standards and new tools

6. Product Innovation & Business Input

  • Work with the director on driving growth through smarter technical delivery

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with Daikin air source heat pump systems (design, installation, and commissioning)
  • Strong electrical background with ability to oversee or troubleshoot all electrical components of installs
  • Proven experience in renewable heating systems (preferably air source heat pumps)
  • MCS commissioning experience preferred
  • Strong communicator and confident in team leadership
  • Hands-on approach with ability to problem-solve on the spot
  • Experience using job management software (Simpro preferred)
