About Createc

Createc leads technological innovation by combining creative applications of emerging sensor technology, robotics, and algorithms with a focus on commercial success and an entrepreneurial spirit to solve real human challenges.

At its heart Createc is a team of multi-skilled individuals who bridge the gap between academic and industrial approaches: we are defined by a technical capability, not a market; but everything we do is defined and guided by a commercial objective.

At Createc, we make technology happen. We’re the team behind some of the world’s most advanced applications of emerging sensor technology, robotics, and algorithms. By collaborating with both academia and industry, we are uniquely able to uncover, shape and bring to life innovative ideas to solve real-world problems. We succeed when our technologies add value in the world.

We are looking for a talented, creative researcher and analyst to join our small but expanding gamma-ray imaging group. Reporting directly to Createc’s Head of Nuclear Instruments, you will be involved in the development, testing and application of radiation measurement technologies to enable intelligence lead decommissioning on some of the world’s most hazardous sites. This is a customer facing role, previous experience would be a strong benefit.

Createc people are enthusiastic team players who delight in finding novel solutions to tough problems and then breathing life into their ideas. They are optimistic, but pragmatic; creative, but focussed. In addition to these fundamental characteristics, you will have the following must have competencies:

Essential skills / attributes

  • Expert knowledge of radiation measurement physics.
  • Strong scientific computing skills.
  • Commercial experience of product development would be an advantage but experience of developing and trialling products to prototype stage either in terms of hardware or technical software would be essential.
  • Experience of leading in-situ characterisation projects or waste assay systems.
  • Ability to attain SC clearance.
  • Valid UK driving licence.

Desirable skills / attributes

  • Demonstrate the ability to creatively apply scientific and mathematical principles to solve challenging problems.
  • Experience of programming in either Matlab, C++ or python.
  • Experience of technically leading projects on nuclear sites.
  • Familiarity with specialist radiation detector electronics.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • A degree in Physics or closely related scientific subjects.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of programming in either Matlab, C++ or python.
  • Ability to attain SC clearance.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of the MS Office suite applications.

Company benefits

  • Flexible working hours;
  • Enhanced pension scheme;
  • The option to buy and sell leave;
  • Cycle2work Scheme
  • 25 days of holidays + bank holidays

Please be aware that all employees undergo baseline security checks prior to joining the company, this is to meet the requirements of some of our projects.
