Due to continuing business growth, we have an opportunity for a HSEQ Advisor to join our HSEQ team to support the business as we continue our journey of growth and success.

HSEQ Advisor role

The role of the HSEQ Advisor, will be to support the HSEQ Manager to deliver compliance across all areas of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality, focused specifically on environmental and compliance responsibilities.

This is a hybrid role, with the requirement to audit all Serconnect operational sites, alongside the HSEQ Manager. This role will be working 40 hours per week, full time with our HQ as your base, with regular travel to our client sites, to conduct onsite audits and supporting our wider teams to remain safe and compliant at all times.

Serconnect operates in a regulated industry, which requires us to maintain health, safety, environment and quality compliance and standards whilst working in public environments ensuring the safety of everyone at all times.

This is a hands-on role focused on compliance, continuous improvement, and helping us maintain a safe culture. You will be supporting the HSEQ Manager to embed our high standards of safety across all our teams and processes, ensuring we maintain our ISO and industry-related accreditations.

As a HSEQ Advisor, your role will be to engage with your internal and external stakeholders to strengthen our legal and regulatory compliance, improve our reporting across the business and deliver critical support to maintain our accreditations.

You will support the HSEQ Manager and the HSEQ team with continuing and improving our environmental ISO, audits, tracking and reporting compliance, liaising with your internal and external stakeholders where necessary.

You will work with the HSE Administration Assistant to support your requirements day to day and support their requirements for compliance.

You will work with our internal teams and external bodies to support the company’s drive for efficient documentation control for tenders and environmental reporting, driving our safety culture throughout every aspect of your work.

Responsibilities

HSEQ Support (site based)

  • Support monthly audits in coordination with the HSEQ Manager.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager through the preparation of annual and monthly initiatives: stand-downs, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to reinforce messaging and compliance expectations.
  • Deliver Inductions to new employees considering their role and ensuring they have all the PPE required for their role, embedding our culture of Safety first at all times.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager through, investigation of incidents and near misses and assist in root cause analysis and lessons learned rollouts.
  • During site audits, provide on-site compliance checks related to PPE, environmental controls, RAMS adherence, and operative HSEQ behaviour.

Compliance

  • Support the HSEQ Manager with maintaining ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 documentation, compliance registers, and audit readiness.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating HSEQ policies, risk assessments, RAMS, and procedural documents.
  • Review subcontractor onboarding documentation, under HSEQ Manager oversight, ensuring subcontractors have or are in the process of implementing initiatives in line with Serconnect standards.
  • Participate in HSEQ site and internal audits and follow-up actions across departments, documenting non-conformances and ensuring resolution.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager, through the tendering process on environmental questionnaires with provision of supportive evidence in line with the tender requirements.

Environmental

  • Maintain and update environmental aspects and impacts register.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager maintaining and improving (where necessary), the COSHH register and assessments, and sustainability objectives in line with ISO 14001 and client expectations.
  • Liaise with external bodies, HSEQ Manager and your internal stakeholders to support the creation and delivery of the business’s Environmental Roadmap and Net Zero initiatives.
  • Monitor and record data for carbon footprint, waste reporting, and resource efficiency tracking and sharing with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with drafting sustainability narratives for tender responses, accreditations, and regulatory submission, liaising with internal stakeholders to provide a comprehensive response.
  • Act as liaison between HSEQ Manager and external environmental stakeholders (e.g., regulators, clients, subcontractors).

Training, Engagement and Culture

  • Help monitor the HSEQ training compliance across the business.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure environmental training is compliant and delivered across staff and subcontractors.
  • Support the growth of a positive environmental culture with our internal and external stakeholders.

About You

Essential

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Environmental Management Certification. (Essential)
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, 45001, 9001, and Constructionline/SSIP accreditations
  • Experience working in construction, utilities, or electrical infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation (RIDDOR, COSHH, PUWER, CDM, etc.)
  • Familiarity with environmental legislation and waste processes
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and HSEQ document control systems
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Confident communicator and collaborator
  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • IEMA Foundation or equivalent Environmental qualification
  • Membership in a professional environmental body (e.g., IEMA)
  • Experience managing ISO standards and internal audits

HSEQ Advisor package

Salary:

£40,000-£45,000 per annum (dependent on experience), plus a Car Allowance of £3,000 per annum
