Full job description

Job purpose

HGV Refuse Vehicle Driver for industry leading waste management business based from Astley, Greater Manchester, and Salford. The job involves a large amount of manual handling, and start times from 4am. This role also offers up to £25 per day in the form of a single driver, productivity bonus.

Main Duties: –

  • To carry out daily vehicle walk round checks, including defect sheets.
  • To drive a waste collection vehicle within city centres and rural locations.
  • Moving and emptying waste containers to and from the vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicles are maintained and kept in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Operate in a safe manner at all times.

Skills / Qualifications: –

  • You must hold a current valid Drivers CPC card and Digital Tachograph card.
  • It is also a requirement that you are competent in using and have a full understanding of a Tachograph and the current Tachograph Regulations.
  • You must be conversant with operating within the requirements of the current EU Drivers Hours regulations.
  • You must maintain high levels of customer service at all times.
  • You must have the ability to follow instructions and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience within the Waste Industry is preferred but not essential.

Hours and benefits: –

  • As required for the role, minimum of 45 hours per week

Summary

As an HGV Refuse Vehicle Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy goods vehicles to collect and transport refuse materials. With core skills in driving and commercial driving, you will ensure the safe and efficient transportation of waste materials. Your premium skill in flatbed driving will be beneficial in handling various types of refuse containers. Previous experience as a delivery driver will also be valuable in this role. Possessing an HGV Class 1 or 2 license, proficiency in English, and basic IT skills are essential for this position.
