Full job description
The Electrician is responsible for delivering high-quality electrical installations across a variety of commercial and industrial projects. This role involves the safe and efficient installation of electrical systems, supervision of mates and apprentices, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with design specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Reporting to the Mechanical or Project Manager, the Electrician takes responsibility for on-site electrical works including first and second fix installations, testing, and commissioning, while also contributing to material management, documentation, and overall site coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Site Execution
- Carry out the full range of electrical installation tasks, including containment, wiring, fixtures, distribution boards, and final terminations.
- Interpret and follow electrical drawings, layout plans, and schematic diagrams to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Conduct initial testing and commissioning of electrical systems in accordance with current regulations.
- Identify and escalate design or coordination issues to the project or design team.
Supervision and Team Leadership
- Supervise and support electrical mates and apprentices on site to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works.
- Oversee subcontractor performance on electrical tasks, ensuring compliance with company and project standards.
- Contribute to the training and development of junior staff through mentoring and hands-on instruction.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) are read, understood, and followed before starting tasks.
- Update RAMS where necessary to reflect changing or unforeseen site conditions.
- Participate in site safety audits, briefings, and toolbox talks.
- Report any safety incidents, near misses, or hazards promptly and accurately.
Material and Equipment Management
- Manage materials on site, ensuring accurate delivery checks and proper storage.
- Upload delivery notes and supporting documentation to DocuWare or designated digital systems.
- Maintain electrical tools and work vehicles to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
Quality Assurance
- Complete all works to a high standard, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and other relevant standards.
- Perform visual inspections and electrical testing to verify quality and safety prior to handover.
- Address snags or non-conformities quickly and proactively.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise effectively with clients, site managers, and other trades to coordinate installation activities.
- Represent Arcade UK Ltd professionally on all sites, promoting a positive and solutions-focused attitude.
Housekeeping and Site Discipline
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas, removing waste and managing tools responsibly.
- Contribute to overall site discipline and operational efficiency.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Proven experience in commercial or industrial electrical installations.
- Thorough knowledge of BS 7671 and associated industry best practices.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and RAMS adherence.
- Ability to manage apprentices and coordinate subcontractors.
- Proficient in using digital systems (e.g., DocuWare) for documentation and reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification and have completed a recognised full apprenticeship, demonstrating robust practical and theoretical knowledge of electrical systems in line with current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- ECS/CSCS card and full UK driving licence are essential.
