We are a leading design, and sign production company based in Brighton but working across the UK. We offer a wide range of products, specializing in Trade / Business Park signage for the commercial property industry. We are looking for a Production Manager to join our existing team.

Production Manager

You will oversees the end-to-end process of producing signage, from initial estimation and design through to production and installation which involves the planning, execution, and completion of sign based projects.

This role involves a combination of project management, production oversight, quality control, and occasionally client communication.

The most important aspect of this role is to keep up to date with the latest projects, their pipeline stage within the business, and work to schedule in the production and installation slots as new work moves through the business, communicating these changes with the team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Production Oversight

* Supervise and coordinate all stages of signage production: printing, cutting, fabrication, assembly, and finishing.

* Ensure that all production work aligns with initial approved specification.

* Oversee and take charge of the company database of products. (Catalogue)

* Monitor workflow and prioritize jobs to meet deadlines.

* Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications.

* Coordinate with designers, management, production and subcontractors.

* Ensure regular scheduled meetings between departments take place and are kept on track.

* Work with the design team to produce consistent artwork and visuals for purposes of catalogues, estimating and final artwork.

Project Management

* Plan and manage multiple signage projects simultaneously.

* Create production schedules and allocate resources efficiently.

* Ensure timely delivery and installation of signs.

* Visit site to survey / inspect works where appropriate.

Quality Assurance

* Implement and monitor quality control measures throughout the production process.

* Inspect completed signage for accuracy, durability, and visual standards.

* Address and resolve any production errors or defects.

Team Leadership

* Manage and mentor production staff, including designers, fabricators, and installers.

* Conduct performance reviews and enforce safety protocols.

* Coordinate with management any required staffing needs and training.

* Lead toolbox talks with installation crews and subcontractors and where appropriate offer advice on safety procedures and technical methods.

Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure high-quality work.

Client & Supplier Communication

* Collaborate with sales/estimating team to understand project requirements.

* Serve as a point of contact for updates on production timelines and progress updates.

* Report progress, issues, and outcomes to upper management and the wider team and clients where appropriate.

* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during installation where appropriate on larger projects.

* Conduct post-installation reviews to ensure client satisfaction.

Technical Skills & Equipment/Premises Management

* When appropriate, operate or oversee operation of, large-format printers, vinyl cutters, laminators and CNC routers etc.

* Maintain and schedule servicing for production equipment.

* Source and manage inventory of raw materials (vinyl, acrylic, posts, etc.).

* Design and review and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

* Troubleshoot on-site issues and make necessary adjustments as required.

* Work with the production team to help to update/maintain the work premises.

Cost Management/Stock Control

* Estimate costs and help to prepare budgets for signage projects.

* Monitor production expenses and reduce waste or inefficiencies.

* Negotiate with vendors and suppliers for materials.

* Keep up to date records of suppliers, their products and regularly update costs.

* Take control of goods coming into the building and arrange goods ready for dispatch or collection.

Compliance & Documentation

* Ensure compliance with local signage regulations and safety standards.

* Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations on-site.

* Maintain documentation of production processes, job specs, and project files.

* Support permitting and installation documentation when required.

* Conduct risk assessments and safety briefings.

* Make sure relevant insurances/licences and certification are in place, current and valid.

Desired Skills & Qualities

* Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

* Knowledge of signage materials and fabrication techniques.

* Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, photoshop and 3D applications) and production tools.

* Leadership and communication skills.

* Strong understanding of various types of signage (e.g., wayfinding, digital, illuminated).

* Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, project management software, and CRM systems.

* Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

* Full UK Driving License preferable
