About Anaphite:
At Anaphite we believe creative chemistry will accelerate the energy transition. Our mission is to decarbonise and improve battery production by helping the industry to shift to dry electrode coating. We work with the battery industry to optimise dry electrode coating, manufacturing better and more sustainable batteries at lower cost. Anaphite was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in central Bristol in the Southwest of the UK.
Summary:
The role of the Maintenance Technician will be to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Anaphite facilities. In particular, the successful candidate will focus on keeping the facilities and equipment in good condition, ensuring a safe and productive environment for our scientists and minimising any disruption to operations. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to help in the specification and design of new Anaphite facilities, including both office and lab spaces.
We will need the successful candidate to demonstrate flexibility as the organisation is going through a period of rapid growth and therefore no two days are the same. One day you may find yourself on the phone, raising support for a malfunctioning piece of laboratory equipment, the next supporting HVAC sub contractors to our site working of an air handling unit, all while simultaneously making sure everything is in safe and usable condition for our chemists.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Perform regular inspections of facilities, including ventilation, lighting, plumbing, and safety systems;
- Identify and address minor issues before they escalate;
- Work with internal teams to ensure smooth facility operations, maintenance, and compliance with safety and sustainability standards;
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance for equipment and building systems;
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and unexpected repairs;
- Perform basic repairs such as fixing light fixtures, leaks, or minor equipment malfunctions;
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialised repairs or services;
- Monitor the progress and quality of work completed by external service providers;
- Maintain an inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies;
- Order necessary supplies and materials to prevent delays in maintenance tasks;
- Ensure safety systems like fire alarms and emergency exits are functional;
- Address safety hazards such as spills, exposed wiring, or equipment malfunctions promptly;
- Log maintenance activities, inspections, and repair work for record-keeping purposes;
- Communicate recurring issues or facility concerns to management for long-term solutions;
- Support workplace safety by ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies;
- Assist in planning and implementing facility improvements or upgrades as needed.
- Stay up to date with required training to ensure compliance with health, safety, and facility management best practices;
- Respond to employee facility-related concerns and ensure quick resolution;
- Minimise operational disruptions by maintaining a clean, safe, and functional work environment and
- Support sustainability initiatives by assisting in waste reduction, energy efficiency, and responsible resource management within facility operations.
Required Proficiencies/Experience:
Essential:
- Technically competent with hands on experience in mechanical or technical work;
- Ability to develop strong relationships with internal teams (chemists, engineers) and external partners;
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of scientific and industrial equipment;
- Proactive approach to ensuring equipment availability and minimizing downtime;
- Experience with pipework systems (domestic or scientific);
- Ability to assess and resolve technical issues efficiently and
- Basic electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with machinery maintenance and repair and
- A relevant trade qualification or certification in a technical field such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance is preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience in maintenance or facilities management will also be considered;

- Base Salary: £27,169 - £34,776 annually depending on experience;
