Full job description

The purpose of the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manger is to ensure STGP complies with health and safety regulations, the company’s management system, industry requirements, best practice and to support the Severn Trent’s vision that no-one gets hurt or made unwell be what we do.

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manger will work in partnership with managers and teams to deliver pragmatic and simple solutions that enable operational excellence and outstanding customer service, safely.

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manger will work with managers and teams to drive the safety mindset and behaviours of teams to find the best way of performing safely, leading HS&W assurance as required.

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manger will be integral in the development, implementation and maintenance of STGP’s Integrated Management System, with responsibility for compliance with ISO45001, as well as supporting the Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (QEHS) Director in developing and implementing the company health, safety and wellbeing strategy across STGP operational sites and offices.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing:

  • · Develop, drive and implement the health, safety and wellbeing culture across STGP.
  • · Lead of the requirements of the Integrated Management System where it relates to ISO45001 and ensure processes and documentation are maintained and fit for purpose, whilst identifying areas for improvement.
  • · Ensure the processes and applications for accident/incident/hazard reporting are fit for purpose and reliable.
  • Lead on the reporting requirements for Health, Safety and Wellbeing in STGP, carrying out analysis and trend reviews to monitor performance and taking action where areas of concern are identified. Using this information, lead on best practice across STGP.
  • · Key point of contact for engagement with the Health and Safety Executive, managing communications including incident reporting and visits as required. You will also be the key contact between STGP and Severn Trent Health and Safety teams, maintaining regular engagement and alignment of standards.
  • · Oversight of all incident/accident investigations, leading where appropriate, and ensuring that all investigations are fully completed to the highest standard.
  • · Lead on the wellbeing strategy, overseeing the Wellbeing Group and ensuring training is available and fit for purpose, and the group moves forward with building an effective environment for encouraging wellbeing discussions and activities.
  • · Instigate, lead, control and engage or be an integral contributor to projects where health and safety delivery is to be considered and will be a key point of contact for advice on health, safety and wellbeing in the company. Sites will be fully aware of their operational risks and have practical and effective controls that mitigate health and safety risks.
  • Responsibility for the Site Improvement Team, creating a forum where issues can be discussed to share experience and find solutions and share best practice

External Audits and Engagement:

  • · Ability to undertake HSW audits in line with ISO45001.
  • · Support ISO annual audit, requirements and pre-audit preparations.
  • Develop relationships with key external stakeholders including auditors, HSE regulatory agencies as required

Team Management:

  • · Support and promote a positive compliance and HSW culture across all areas of STGP.
  • · Actively participate in team engagement activities and be a positive ambassador for the Compliance Team and STGP.
  • · Be an effective team leader, managing 2 direct report, fulfil management requirements and support performance and development of team.

Qualifications and Experience ·

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • · Background with practical experience in regulatory framework/ISO
  • · Knowledge of waste and recycling legislation and environment knowledge preferred
  • · Experience of working in regulated industry with safety and environmental permits and licensing preferred
  • · Practical experience of supporting health and safety in operational and non- operational (office) settings
  • · Understanding of occupational health systems within the workplace
  • · Good understanding of commercial health and safety needs and drivers
  • Working knowledge of LOTOTO, Permit to Work, DSEAR, Confined Space is a MUST.

Skills
