Environment Engineer

Job Summary

To optimise the efficiency and performance of all environmental aspects relating to the site and landfill. To champion and drive improvements to the company’s environmental impact in line with permit requirements and ISO14001 objectives and targets.

The successful candidate will report to the Health, Safety & Environment Manager.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

  • Collection of data on all environmental aspects in line with permit conditions and objectives & targets.
  • To sense check data and provide a data base structure for data collection and analysis allowing ease of access and interrogation.
  • Produce reports based on environmental data collected and present to senior management with findings and key objectives.
  • To liaise with responsible parties to draw up action plans and aid the implementation of improvements and efficiencies.
  • Review of data on a regular basis to highlight anomalies or adverse trends.
  • To produce training documents, safe systems of work/one-point lessons where required.
  • Visually manage all KPI’s.
  • Recommend projects to improve environmental performance of the foundry.
  • Keep your electronic diary up to date and available on the network. Attend scheduled meetings that you have accepted.
  • Take primary responsibility for all aspects of the Environmental Management system to ensure conformance with ISO14001

KEY OBJECTIVES

Visually manage the following KPI’s and drive improvement to include:

  • Waste produced per tonne of good castings
  • Base load reduction
  • Energy use per tonne of good castings

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

Essential

  • Attainment of 2.2-degree classification or above in engineering, environmental science, or a related subject
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (internally and externally)
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent IT skills and technical awareness with the ability to take on technical information and relate this to clear operational instructions
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
  • Conscientious approach with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative and ensure tasks are followed through to completion
  • A genuine interest in the environment and the desire to help make it better

Desirable

  • Waste Management or environmental knowledge
  • Preferable to have relevant work experience e.g., a work placement
