Full job description

MARCO, a globally recognised automation and technology company and part of the ATS Group, is seeking a dynamic Technical Buyer to join our growing Projects & Procurement Team based in Edenbridge, Kent.

Sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing technical products, components, and services required by the business, this role is integral to achieving on time delivery of customer projects. The role also involves cross-functional cover to the wider team to support team efficiencies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Conducting research for new components, suppliers and procurement opportunities.
  • Compiling supplier performance date to enable evaluation.
  • Preparing and raising purchase orders and order schedules.
  • Providing analysis on new and existing costs and reviewing cost reduction activities.
  • Monitoring and advising on any procurement issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation.
  • Building, maintaining and managing strong professional supplier relationships.
  • Contacting suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
  • Providing cross-cover support to the wider Projects & Procurement Team as required, to include assisting with project coordination and associated admin, as well as cover for the MARCO Stores function, involving booking goods in, packing orders and arranging courier collection.

Key Skills:

  • Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Excellent IT literacy to navigate and utilise relevant software and tools in the assembly process.
  • A problem solver with proven ability to manage multiple priorities without compromising on tight timeframes.

Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in a purchasing team, preferably (but not essential) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of purchasing, negotiation, commercial processes and cost breakdown.
  • Experience of working closely with suppliers.
  • Experience of managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Familiarity with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system would be beneficial but not essential.
