Are you an engineer looking for a new challenge?

Do you want to use your expertise to help deliver essential capital projects and make a real impact on a vital service?

We're looking for a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on managing the multi-disciplined, technical and engineering aspects of projects, from start to finish. You'll be a key part of the team, working alongside the Project Manager to ensure quality, compliance, and successful delivery of our above ground capital investment projects. You'll get to see projects through their entire lifecycle, from the initial idea to completion, while ensuring everything is delivered to the highest standards. The role offers a blend of hybrid working, but you'll also be out and about, travelling to our sites across the South East Water supply area to see the projects you're working on come to life.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare, schedule, and coordinate assigned engineering projects.
  • Monitor compliance with all applicable codes, practices, and performance standards.
  • Interact daily with clients to understand their needs and represent them in the field.
  • Perform quality control on all aspects of the work, including budget and schedule, and report on project status.
  • Assign responsibilities and support the project team.
  • Collaborate with the project manager and other participants to provide technical assistance.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions where needed.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gain approvals and facilitate projects.

What you'll need

  • A degree, HNC, or HND in an engineering discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CEng).
  • Proven working experience as a Project Engineer.
  • Experience in a water distribution or similar industrial background.
  • A strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how it's applied to projects.
  • A strong understanding of the various NEC contracts and their application.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • A valid UK driving licence.

Employees are required to be flexible and to be prepared to perform duties and other tasks within their capabilities. The nature of our business is such that the contents of any job profile are subject to change from time to time.

We want to be the water company people want to be supplied by and want to work for.

We know the communities we serve are diverse. We recognise creativity comes from diversity not similarity. That’s why we are enthusiastic about creating inclusion across age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion and identity. You will experience our dedication to equal opportunities and fair treatment for all: through your recruitment, employment and career progression with South East Water.

Benefits package:

  • Excellent Stakeholder pension scheme, up to 10% employer contribution.
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays per annum, increasing to 6 weeks with length of service.
  • Flexible annual leave policy to buy or sell holiday leave.
  • Paid volunteering days.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Health cash plan.
  • Life assurance.
  • Wellbeing related benefits.
