Bar and Waiting Assistant – The Brackenrigg Inn | by Another Place, The Lake

Local food and drink, contemporary en-suite rooms, roaring fires and lively conversation await for guests, locals and walkers in our relaxed and inviting Cumbrian pub.

Acquired by Another Place hotel collection, and an extension to the experience at Another Place, The Lake, The Brackenrigg Inn captures the ethos from The Lake hotel and extends it to a vibrant and inviting pub with rooms - where warm hospitality and contemporary comfort combine with views over Ullswater and the fells.

At Another Place, we don't just provide a place for our guests to rest their heads - we create memorable experiences that they'll remember for a lifetime. For our guests, how their stay makes them feel is crucial; cared about, looked after, welcome. It’s the heart and soul of our active relaxation concept, made possible by the people on our team.

With a team that values connection, flexibility, variety, and challenge, we're all about making a meaningful impact on our guest’s holiday and know what it means to go above and beyond for our team and guests.

Our Bar and Waiting Assistant role:

We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Bar and Waiting Assistant to join our team at The Brackenrigg Inn. You’ll be detail-oriented, highly organised, and eager to explore the many moving parts that keep a busy operation running like clockwork.

You’ll support our day-to-day service with care and professionalism, anticipating guests’ needs and ensuring every interaction feels effortless and welcoming. Working closely with the wider team, you’ll also maintain the high standards that allow The Brackenrigg Inn to run smoothly behind the scenes, so our guests can simply unwind, soak in the views, and lose themselves in the quiet joy of the moment.

As our Bar and Waiting Assistant you’ll be:

In our restaurant and bar

  • Welcoming guests in a warm, friendly, timely and relaxed yet professional manner.
  • Working in all areas of the restaurant and bar.
  • Working behind the bar.
  • Waiting on tables inside and outside.
  • Keeping the area you’re responsible for clean, tidy, and organised.
  • Helping with cutlery and supporting Kitchen Porter as needed.
  • Working together as part of our committed, efficient, and dynamic team.

In our kitchen and behind the scenes

  • Making sure that our chemical spray guns and blue towel dispensers are filled and replenished.
  • Ensuring waste bins are emptied regularly.
  • Washing dishes and cutlery and making sure all areas have enough to use (this will include using our dishwashers).
  • Polishing cutlery ready for our bar and waiting teams to use.
  • Cleaning and sanitising our kitchens and back of house corridor floors as needed.
  • Washing and polishing glasses.
  • Keeping the bar team well stocked with the products and supplies they need to run smoothly.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • A friendly and outgoing personality
  • A passion for proving the best customer service possible
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A natural team-player with a willingness to get stuck in
  • Responsibility, reliability, punctuality

What we can offer in return:

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – right on the shores of Ullswater
  • Excellent career prospects in an ever-expanding organisation
  • Special rates for you and your friends & family to stay at Another Place and Watergate Bay Hotel
  • Team discounts on treatments in Swim Club
  • Discounts for you and your friends & family to eat at our restaurants: at Rampsbeck, Living Space, Glasshouse and The Brackenrigg
  • Team social events throughout the year
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances

From discounted stays to training and development opportunities, we're all about helping our team achieve their personal and professional goals. Located in the Lake District National Park, you'll never be short on inspiration.

If you would love to join us as our Bar and Waiting Assistant, apply now and be part of our journey at The Brackenrigg Inn, a wonderful place to work.
