Job Reference: SOLOMKJ

ABOUT THE ROLE

I am a young man with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy and receiving dialysis due to renal failure. I do not let these conditions stop me

from living life to the fullest, I have a good sense of humour and a cheeky side. I enjoy going bowling, going to Tesco and love to go to

bookstores like Waterstones and home bargains. I do require help with personal care such as showering, shaving, oral hygiene, skin care,

gastronomy care and trips to the hairdresser. You will need also support with Hospital Appointments including 3 weekly infusions at Leicester

General, and during hospital stays alongside my mother. There may also be the opportunity to accompany myself and my mum on holidays in

the future. When communicating with me books and social stories are important as this helps me understand different situations.

The role also includes helping with my mum doing the sterile procedure for changing tunnelled neckline dressing as and when needed. I

currently need support at the hospital, with my mum, for dialysis at the local unit. Should home haemodialysis resume at any point, training

will be needed at the Home Haemodialysis Unit. There will also be the expectation to learn seizure management and administration of rescue

medication and behavioural training and the administration of as required medication.

ABOUT YOU

I am looking for someone who understands my medical problems and can also provide emotional support. I would like someone to offer

companionship whilst they look after my day to day and medical tasks. You will need to be enthusiastic and inspiring to bring a sense of energy

into my life. You must also be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity and respect my home.

I am looking for someone who must be prepared to work in a person-centred way and have a kind, happy, caring attitude. I respond well to positive and a praising attitude, so please do not be stern and I do not respond well to people being firm and forceful. I require someone to

acknowledge that this is a client led service which operates around my health and wellbeing. Due to my healthcare needs, it is important that

you have the willingness to learn and be able to retain complex instructions and information. I can take time to build a rapport with someone

so you will need to have patience and a high level of understanding.

Experience is advantageous but not compulsory as all training will be provided. The ideal person will have the ability to drive and have access

to their own car.

Please note that anyone shortlisted for the position would be expected to meet the client prior to any employment offer to access suitability

for the role.

BENEFITS

In return for your dedication, you’ll receive a competitive rate of pay in addition to:

● 5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro-rata for part-time positions).

● Company pension scheme after 3 months’ service, subject to the scheme rules.

● Opportunity to join our Cash Back Health Plan, after successful completion of the probation period.

● Free training and development for all roles.

● Access to wellbeing and support tools.

● ‘Star of the Month’ rewards.

And so much more!
