Job Title: Retail Sales and Digital Marketing Assistant

We have a full time permanent position available within our store in Barnstaple (Devon Outdoor and Camping Supplies at Ashford Garden Centre).

We are an independent group of stores in North Devon and South Wales selling leading brands of tents, awnings and outdoor equipment.

Job Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Retail Sales & Digital Marketing Assistant to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a mix of sales, customer interaction, creative content creation, and visual merchandising. You will be responsible for driving sales, ensuring excellent customer service, producing social media content, and maintaining visually appealing shop and outdoor displays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with product selection, enquiries, and purchases to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Proactively drive sales
  • Provide outstanding customer service, handling queries and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Create engaging content for social media platforms to promote products and attract customers.
  • Design and maintain visually appealing shop and outdoor displays to enhance customer engagement and sales.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop promotions and campaigns, and help plan the social media calendar
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and customer preferences to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Receiving stock and unpacking deliveries
  • Web order fulfilment

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or marketing preferred.
  • Friendly and helpful nature.
  • An enthusiasm for spending time outdoors. Some experience with camping, caravanning or motorhoming preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative mindset with experience in social media content creation.
  • Eye for detail in visual merchandising and shop displays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to sales and marketing.

This is a retail store and therefore we are open 7 days a week, so weekend work is expected. This can be a physically demanding job.
