Full job description

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack WordPress Developer with expertise in custom WordPress development, Elementor, API integrations, and frontend implementation.

You’ll be responsible for taking projects from start to finish, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability. You will work on custom themes and plugin development, backend architecture, and API-driven workflows. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and problem solver with a solid foundation in both backend and frontend development.

We value a sense of humour and a dedication to growth. Our success is your success. Your ability to deliver high-quality work will be the primary criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop fully custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
  • Build and manage API integrations, including REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party services.
  • Create and manage custom post types, taxonomies, and field structures using ACF Pro.
  • Implement frontend UI components using Elementor, LESS CSS, JavaScript libraries, and WordPress templating.
  • Optimise website performance, caching strategies, and database queries for scalability.
  • Write secure, efficient, and well-documented PHP code following WordPress best practices.
  • Use Postman for API testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with designers and frontend developers to translate designs into responsive, high-performance WordPress websites.
  • Manage Git version control, CI/CD workflows, and deployment best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in WordPress development.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and WordPress core architecture.
  • Extensive experience with Elementor and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF Pro).
  • Proven experience in custom theme and plugin development (beyond pre-built templates).
  • Strong JavaScript/jQuery skills (vanilla JS, jQuery, or frameworks like React/Vue).
  • Proficiency in frontend development using Elementor, LESS CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design best practices.
  • Expertise in API development, webhooks, and third-party integrations.
  • Experience using Postman for API testing and debugging.
  • Strong knowledge of performance optimisation techniques, including caching (Redis, WP Rocket), database optimisation, and server-side improvements.
  • Ability to take a project from concept to deployment, handling both backend architecture and frontend implementation.
  • Comfortable working independently as a self-starter and problem solver.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Framer and Webflow for frontend development.
  • Experience with Drupal or other CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with Headless WordPress (e.g., Next.js, React, Vue.js).
  • WooCommerce customisation and API development experience.
  • Server management experience (WP Engine / Cloudways / Nginx / Apache).
  • WPGraphQL or GraphQL experience for WordPress.

How to Apply:

  • Include a portfolio of 3-5 sites, detailing your role in each project.
  • Share any custom plugins and APIs you’ve developed (for code review only; your IP remains yours).
  • A GitHub Profile/Portfolio link is ideal.
  • No cover letter required – just the essentials!

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge web projects.
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Hybrid working available.
  • 25 days holiday (excluding public holidays) per year.
  • Extra day off for your birthday.

If you are a passionate and experienced WordPress developer looking for an exciting opportunity, we'd love to hear from you!
