Are you a Junior WordPress Web Developer looking to join a successful agency?

Rooster Marketing is a leading creative marketing agency with offices in Winchester, London, Manchester and Birmingham. We’re trusted to deliver creative design, web development, inbound marketing and media production for some of the biggest brands in the world.

We are looking to fill the exciting position of Junior WordPress Web Developer to add to our existing team, working from our Winchester office on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and with the option to work remotely on Wednesday and Friday.

The Role
We’re seeking a Junior WordPress Web Developer, responsible for both back-end and front-end development. The successful candidate will work closely with the creative director, technical director and development team to produce high-quality cms driven websites and have the opportunity to produce bespoke web/mobile applications.

You will be required to provide account managers with regular project status updates, whilst striving for the highest level of quality in your work – through code reviews, appraising technical aspects of work and monitoring efficiency against budget.

You should have a degree in web design, computer science (or similar background), have a passion for digital technology and be a perfectionist who constantly strives for excellence.

Candidates must have 2+ years of commercial experience in the following areas and be able to demonstrate their use.

The ideal Junior WordPress Web Developer:

  • Experience in creating custom WordPress Themes with ACF.
  • Degree in Computer Science
  • Flawless HTML5, CSS3 and Sass skills.
  • Experience with Tailwind.
  • Strong PHP and MySQL skills.
  • Experience working with Gulp.
  • Experienced with using package managers, npm / yarn / pnpm.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs.
  • Experienced in building and maintaining responsive websites.
  • Experience using Jenkins or other CI.
  • Ability to thoroughly test, debug and validate the code.
  • Good understanding of UX/UI principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills.

Advantage but not essential:

  • Experience working with React, Next js, Nodejs.
  • Knowledge of JamStack and SSG.
  • Experience working with Headless CMS integrations.
  • Technical SEO experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
