Please note that this is a hybrid role with one day a week in the office required.

Elite Leisure Collection is a thriving hospitality group of independently owned, award-winning brands in Tunbridge Wells, including Bewl Water, One Warwick Park Hotel and Salomons Estate. Since 2008, we've grown into a diverse team, all dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences to our customers.

Alongside our hospitality work, we also work closely with Presence & Co., our sister company, a property management, estate agency, and construction company which also headquartered at Salomons Estate, Tunbridge Wells. Presence & Co. operates nationally with hubs in York and Peterborough and offers a full-service, in-house approach to residential and commercial property.

Role Summary

We’re seeking a talented WordPress Front & Back End Developer to join our in-house team. Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing, maintaining, and continually improving our websites across the Elite Leisure Collection and Presence & Co. brands. You’ll also play a key role in analysing and enhancing user experience (UX), ensuring that our websites delight guests and drive engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain engaging, responsive WordPress websites for each brand.
  • Customise and extend themes and plugins to align with brand standards and user needs.
  • Implement seamless integrations with third-party booking engines, event calendars, and hospitality tools.
  • Conduct ongoing UX analysis to identify areas for improvement, working closely with the marketing and design teams to deliver exceptional user journeys.
  • Optimise site performance, security, SEO, and accessibility.
  • Use Basecamp to schedule and manage development projects, ensuring they’re completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into digital solutions that enhance the guest experience.
  • Stay up to date with emerging WordPress trends and best practices to keep our digital platforms fresh and innovative.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues to ensure a reliable, user-friendly online presence.

About You

  • Proven experience as a WordPress Developer (front and back end), with a strong portfolio of responsive, user-friendly sites.
  • Strong skills in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  • Experience with custom theme development and plugin customisation.
  • Familiarity with UX principles and best practices, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating great user experiences.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and using Basecamp or similar project management tools.
  • A good understanding of SEO, performance optimisation, and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with the SEO & PPC specialist to ensure websites are fully optimised for search, performance, and conversions.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience with hospitality-focused integrations (like booking systems) is a plus.
