Full job description
The Role
We're seeking Full Stack PHP Developers to join our growing team. You'll work on cutting-edge projects that combine traditional development with AI integration, creating solutions that transform how our clients operate in the HR, L&D, and Communications space.
Core Responsibilities
- Read and understand user stories, translating client requirements into robust solutions
- Develop and maintain code while adhering to internal standards and best practices
- Integrate AI tools and services into existing applications where appropriate
- React to assigned change requests and communicate progress through ticket management
- Support the writing of user stories and technical documentation
- Maintain department documentation including change logs and project updates
- Participate in code reviews and implement feedback promptly
- Work alongside senior developers for personal development
- Demonstrate proactive communication via Teams and email
- Create and maintain modern, responsive front-end implementations
- Build scalable backend systems and APIs, including AI service integrations
- Manage code environments and deployment processes
- Write comprehensive technical documentation
- Maintain and update developer standards
- Lead troubleshooting and bug fixing initiatives inline with client SLAs
- Optimise performance, security, and scalability
Technical Skills Required
PHP & Frameworks
- Expert knowledge of latest PHP versions
- Strong experience with frameworks examples: Laravel, Symfony etc
- Understanding of PHP best practices and design patterns
- Proficiency with composer and package management
JavaScript & Modern Web
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript skills
- Experience with React, Vue, or similar frameworks
- State management expertise
- Node.js and NPM ecosystem knowledge
Database Management
- Understanding of a modern relational database (MySQL, Postgres etc.)
- Query optimization and performance tuning
- SQL Database design and indexing expertise
Development Tools & Quality
- Version control mastery (Git)
- API development and integration expertise
- Testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Jest, Cypress)
- CI/CD pipeline experience
- Code quality tools (PHPStan, PHP CS Fixer)
Suggested: AI Integration Skills
- Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) via APIs
- Understanding of AI prompt engineering principles
- Familiarity with AI development frameworks
- Experience with AI service providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
- Knowledge of AI ethical considerations and best practices
Complementary Skills
- Strong communication abilities with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Attention to detail and quality standards
- Experience with Agile methodologies

Requirements
- Proven development experience minimum of 2 years

As a bespoke developer at DBLX, you'll be building bespoke solutions for our diverse client base. You will work to ensure client projects are delivered on budget and to schedule. You'll be accountable for tasks within the development cycle and responsible for ensuring code is written with internal coding standards in mind.
The role is remote but the successful candidate would be expected to travel for purposeful time with the team. Examples: Ideation sessions, company updates, project retros etc.
