Job/Person Summary
About us:
We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology to join our academy. The successful candidate will be required to teach practical lessons across KS3 and KS4 to the highest standard, with the flexibility and enthusiasm to teach a mixture of 3D Design and Food. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make a positive difference to academy life and to help shape the future of Design Technology at Oasis Academy Mayfield.
You must be able to use a range of teaching strategies to inspire and motivate our students, bringing Design Technology to life through engaging, practical and ambitious learning experiences. We are looking for a passionate teacher who is committed to high standards, enjoys sharing best practice with colleagues and is keen to contribute to the continued development of our curriculum.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape our KS3 Design Technology curriculum and contribute to the development of the KS4 options offer. Experience of teaching 3D Design and/or Food would be an advantage, but we welcome applications from colleagues with the skills, creativity and willingness to teach across these areas. Flexible working requests, part time applications and applications from ECTs are all welcome.
Oasis Academy Mayfield is a fantastic place to learn and work. Our last Ofsted visit was in April 2024, where we were judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas, since then we believe that we have moved yet closer to our aim to become the exceptional school our community deserves. We are excited to welcome applications from future colleagues who share our enthusiasm for education and dedication to transforming the community we live in and serve. We value strong relationships with our parents and carers, and know that through working closely together it is ultimately our young people who benefit.
Our mission is focused around entitling our students, staff and community to an exceptional education. In order to achieve this we have three simple priorities.
- Building Belonging.
- Raising Standards Through Excellent Teaching for All.
- Developing People and Leadership.
We place a high value on personal development and professional learning for our staff. We invest heavily in supporting the growth of our team believing that if our young people are surrounded by caring, committed and talented staff that they will be best placed to achieve remarkable success. Being part of Oasis a Multi Academy Trust, which has 3 secondary schools in Southampton, and a further 16 nationally, offers many opportunities for collaboration and professional learning; we are a family and work closely together to ensure that we deliver exceptional education at the heart of our local communities.
Our offer to you
When you join the Oasis family there are a number of offers you’ll receive that make us stand out as an employer of choice. These include but are not limited to:
- Recognition of previously continuous local authority / education service
- Opportunities for training and development internally and externally
- Access to free 24/7 counselling service
- Free eye tests
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Healthcare cash plan
- A lively environment with colleagues who care
- The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people
- The opportunity to work with a variety of professionals in the academy
- Full time and part time contracts available for the right applicant
Application Procedure
Please take time to look over the recruitment information provided. For further information or an informal discussion about the role and the Academy, please contact the academy on the main school telephone number.
