We’re looking for a talented Full Stack WordPress Developer to join our 20-person marketing agency. Working alongside designers, marketers, SEO specialists, project managers and fellow developers, you’ll build, maintain and optimise high-quality websites for a diverse portfolio of clients.

We need a hands-on developer who combines strong technical skills with a collaborative approach, takes pride in their work and can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced agency environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven commercial experience developing WordPress websites
  • Strong skills in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of WordPress themes, plugins, hooks, filters and template hierarchy
  • Experience building bespoke functionality and responsive websites from designs, ideally using Figma
  • Practical experience deploying, managing and troubleshooting WordPress websites on Cloudways, DigitalOcean and/or cPanel-based hosting
  • Understanding of DNS, SSL, databases, PHP configuration, website migrations, backups and deployment workflows
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, website security, performance optimisation and technical SEO
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities

Desirable Skills

Experience with ACF, custom Gutenberg blocks, WooCommerce, React, Composer, CI/CD, automated testing, SSH and Linux command-line tools would be advantageous. Advanced server administration is a plus, but not essential.

What We’re Looking For

A proactive, quality-driven developer who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team, takes ownership of projects and understands how effective websites support client and marketing objectives.

  • Develop, maintain and enhance bespoke WordPress websites, themes, plugins and functionality.
  • Build responsive, accessible front-end experiences from design files, working closely with our creative team.
  • Develop back-end functionality, custom integrations, APIs and dynamic content systems.
  • Manage hosting and deployments across Cloud-based and cPanel environments, including website migrations, DNS, SSL, databases, backups and staging environments.
  • Troubleshoot website, hosting and server-side issues, working with hosting providers where required.
  • Optimise website performance, Core Web Vitals, security and technical SEO.
  • Test and debug websites across browsers and devices, ensuring high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to estimate tasks, manage deadlines, review code and deliver successful client projects.
  • Understand code optimisation techniques
  • Be familiar with version control
  • Have an awareness of coding standards
  • Be able to manage your time effectively and provide accurate estimates

In return for this you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of clients and projects, and we can promise no day will ever be the same!

We are a well-established Chester based agency, with one of the friendliest, most enthusiastic teams you’ll meet.

In addition to a comprehensive staff benefits package and a supportive working environment, there’s loads of other cool stuff like:

  • Free gym membership
  • Life insurance policy
  • Birthdays off
  • Access to remote GP, medical second opinions and mental health support and advice.
  • Mindfulness programmes
  • Regular team nights out
  • Deliveroo treats from the boss!

So, if you think you are the right person for this challenging and fulfilling role, you can expect a rewarding career within one of the region’s most progressive agencies – and we want to hear from you!

Salary dependent upon experience.
