Working Hours: 37.5 hours, Monday - Friday. Office based, with work-from-home opportunities.

In a Nutshell:

  • An exciting challenge to develop independent, in-house SEO Management
  • A chance to join a growing and vibrant holiday company
  • Role based at our Head Office, in Brighton Marina. A hybrid working pattern, with weekly office days required

About Us:

At Neilson Active Holidays, we do things differently. We’re not just about beautiful beaches or mountain air — we’re here to create good energy. Whether it’s windsurfing in Greece, skiing in the Alps, or relaxing by the pool after a morning yoga session, we create holidays that are as active or laid-back as our guests want them to be.

With over 40 years of experience, we’re proud to be the UK’s leading active holiday company. Our passionate team, both overseas and at our Head Office, plays a vital role in delivering exceptional experiences for thousands of guests each year.

Working at Neilson means being part of a dynamic, energetic team that thrives on teamwork, adventure, and creating memories. If you’re enthusiastic, driven, and love the idea of combining your career with a company that lives and breathes good energy, we’d love to hear from you.

About You:

You are a highly skilled and technical SEO Manager who is looking to join a passionate and creative team. You will be well versed in SEO strategy and execution as well as being familiar with the principles of EEAT and how to improve them across the website. Keyword research and content optimisation, together with link-building and off-page SEO will be second nature to you.

Our mission is to provide exceptional holiday experiences through innovative digital solutions that support both our customers and internal teams. So, if you have a deep understanding of organic search and all the on, and off-site, factors that lead to successful websites, a good all-round digital channel knowledge, alongside a keen interest in the activities we offer and a love for travel, then this could be the role for you.

Role Overview:

The Senior SEO Manager will be responsible for developing, executing, and refining comprehensive SEO strategies to drive organic search traffic, improve search rankings, and increase on-site engagement and conversions. This role involves leading SEO initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional departments to ensure the implementation of SEO best practices across all digital channels and platforms.

Neilson doesn’t have an SEO team as such - we've been using an agency until now - so the successful applicant will be expected to run this channel at least initially themselves, and therefore direct, hands-on experience and a willingness to get stuck in is key.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop, implement, and optimise effective SEO strategies aligned with business goals and industry best practices.
  • Conduct thorough keyword research, competitor analysis, and audience research to identify growth opportunities.
  • Lead on-page and off-page optimisation efforts, including content strategy (working with the Brand & Content team), technical SEO, and link-building – both of which you'll manage yourself (likely using external resource).
  • Perform regular technical SEO audits, identify issues, and recommend actionable improvements.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on SEO performance metrics and KPIs using industry-standard tools, and resolve any identified issues.
  • Collaborate with content, web development, design, and marketing teams to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into website structure, content creation, and user experience.
  • Stay up to date with the latest SEO trends, search engine algorithms, and emerging technologies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior SEO team members if team growth is required, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Present SEO strategies, insights, and performance reports to stakeholders and clients.
  • Participate in business development efforts, new business pitches, and contribute to agency growth where applicable.

You’ll be great at this if you…

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, information technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of proven experience in SEO management with a track record of successful campaigns and measurable results.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading an SEO team.
  • In-depth knowledge of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and technical SEO.
  • Proficient in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, ScreamingFrog, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent project management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with content strategy, keyword research, and both on-page and off-page optimisation.

It’d be a bonus if you…

  • Have an understanding of HTML/CSS and web design/UX best practices.
  • Have experience in client-facing roles and/or agency environment.

What's in it for you:

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays. Option to purchase 5 days holiday as extra.
  • Auto enrolment into Scottish Widows pension scheme (Employer 4%, employee 5%).
  • Life Assurance x 2 salary.
  • Additional partner discounts (OOSC, Osprey, Trek, Snow Centre, Temple Spa etc).
  • Modern, friendly, casual, upbeat office atmosphere.
  • Free on-site gym & shower facilities.
  • Free parking within a 10-minute walk from the office.
  • Office secure bike storage.
  • Great office location in Brighton Marina.
  • Highly preferential holiday deals
  • Remote working options.
  • Office kitchen/bar – Coffee & tea making facilities.
  • Office pool table & darts board.
  • Team socials and events.
  • Daily fruit basket.
  • Free drinks fridge & snacks.
  • Cycle to work & Tech scheme (salary sacrifice).

We reserve to close this vacancy before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found.
