The Opportunity

As a PHP Developer with Bright you will be responsible for creating engaging user experiences and implementing visual elements that users see and interact with on web applications. Collaborating closely with design teams and back-end developers, you will bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, ensuring seamless integration of front-end components.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new features and functionality for the BrightManager and BrightPropose softwares, used by thousands of accountants and bookkeepers every day.
  • Build custom integrations between our products & 3rd party systems using APIs (usually RESTful, depending on provider).
  • Provide technical support (fix frontend & backend related bugs).
  • Get involved in Code Review, performing testing and providing feedback on code produced by other members of the team.
  • Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability, implementing best practices and performance tuning techniques.

Requirements:

Essential Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and HTML.
  • Experience designing normalised database schemas.
  • Experience working with a source control system such as Git.
  • Experience implementing and consuming RESTful APIs.

Preferred Experience:

  • Exposure to a modern PHP MVC Framework such as Laravel or Symfony.
  • Exposure to a modern Javascript Framework such as VueJS or ReactJS.
  • Ability to work with front-end code and frameworks (such as Bootstrap and VueJS) and knowledge of SASS.
  • Experience with PHPUnit or other code testing tools.
  • Exposure to common design patterns (i.e. SOLID, TDD).
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and GitHub.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
