Apprentice Web Developer

Location: Fully onsite at our head office in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, ST5 9HX. You must have the ability to reliably commute, or plan to relocate before starting work.

Job Type: 18-24 month fixed-term Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

Salary: £16,000 pa

Do you have foundational knowledge in web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript, and are looking for an exciting new challenge? Would you like to learn hands-on and contribute to real-world projects, with the opportunity to grow and develop skills in frameworks such as Laravel and TailwindCSS?

GivEducation are looking for an Apprentice Web Developer to join our team in our UK Head Office. You will be enrolled with NSCG (Newcastle and Stafford College Group) and will complete a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Software Development which will start in September 2024.

About Us:

We’re so excited to be expanding the GivEducation team, a subsidiary of GivEnergy. This project is aimed at bringing high quality education technology to schools with an emphasis on helping those with special needs and students who have extenuating life circumstances. GivEnergy is a globally established, market leading energy storage manufacturer of electronic equipment designed to manage energy use and production. We specialise in our range of inverters and battery systems which allow our users to store their renewable/cheap-rate energy, ease pressure on the grid and save some serious money.

Key Accountabilities:

· Assist in developing web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (utilising React).

· Learn and apply the best practices in web development.

· Collaborate with the designer and the lead developer to translate Figma designs to code.

· Gain experience with frameworks such as TailwindCSS and Laravel.

· Participate in code reviews and team meetings.

· Use version control systems like GIT for collaborative development.

Entry Requirements:

· 5 GCSE’s at grades 9-4 or A-C including maths and English

· Relevant Level 3 qualification, including A Levels or a Level 3 Apprenticeship

What We’re Looking For:

· Passion for programming and web development.

· Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.

· Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

· Good communication and teamwork skills.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Ability to use your own initiative.

· Flexible and open to change.

Desirable Skills:

· Experience of use of AI (such as ChatGPT) to assist with programming.

· Familiarity with React in JavaScript.

· Understanding of PHP.

· Understanding of JavaScript fundamentals.

· Basic understanding of version control (GIT).
