Job description

As a Front End Developer, you’ll be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the functionality, performance, and user experience of Seasalt’s Adobe Cloud Commerce (Magento 2) website. You’ll deliver high-quality, timely front-end development work, driving improvements in performance, UX, accessibility, and SEO while supporting cross-browser and device compatibility.

Through collaboration with the business, you will ensure efficient processes and seamless integration of new features, contributing to a best-in-class online shopping experience for our customers.

Please note that this is a full-time, permanent role that is available remotely across the UK, with occasional travel to our Head Office locations in Cornwall. If you are a Cornwall based candidate, this role will be based at Head Office with a hybrid working approach.

You’ll help us by:

You’ll develop new features, functionality, and fix bugs for the Seasalt Cornwall website (Adobe Cloud Commerce – Magento 2) and proactively identify areas for improvement on-site, with a focus on performance, conversion, SEO, and accessibility. You’ll ensure all code works across all supported browsers and device types, and that all work is delivered on time and within the required development sprint.

Working closely with development colleagues, you’ll enhance Seasalt’s web development processes and practices, prioritising efficiency and flexibility. You'll also support the adoption and implementation of automated testing in collaboration with internal testing/QA teams. Additionally, you’ll provide front-end development expertise for various business initiatives, working cross-functionally across departments. As part of an Agile SCRUM team, you’ll collaborate closely with other development teams within the technology department.

With an interest in personal development, you’ll continually strive to build upon and improve your existing knowledge of Magento 2, applying this knowledge to the website.

The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:

  • Graduate preferable with a degree in computer science, design or similar
  • Previous proven experience with Magento 2 front end development.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS (LESS), PHP and JavaScript.
  • Experience working with GIT.
  • Experience with KnockoutJS.
  • Experience working with GraphQL/REST API’s.
  • Experience working with mixed frontends with legacy and modern code.
  • Experience customising/theming third party Magento 2 modules.
  • Experience working using Agile methodology.
  • Ability to take responsibility for a set task from start to finish.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • The ability to work closely with the wider business and external partners, communicating by phone, e-mail and face-to-face in a professional manner.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Motivated, driven and proactive.
  • Experience using New Relic and Docker would be advantageous.
  • Experience of web performance best practice and core web vitals would be advantageous.
  • Experience of accessibility best practices would be advantageous.
  • Experience using design software such as Figma, Adobe CC would be advantageous.
  • Experience with structured data and data layers would be advantageous.
