At BIMM University, we're more than just an educational institution; we're a vibrant community dedicated to nurturing creativity and empowering students to reach their full potential. With campuses across the UK, Ireland, and Germany, we offer a diverse range of courses in modern music, performing arts, filmmaking and creative technology. Our commitment to excellence in creative arts education sets us apart, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

About the Role

As Learning Technology Developer, you will play an important role in designing, developing and improving digital products that support learning, teaching and academic quality across BIMM University.

Working within the Digital Learning Team, you'll collaborate with colleagues across the University to deliver practical, user-focused solutions that enhance learning and teaching experiences and streamline academic processes. You'll help translate ideas and requirements into effective technology solutions, while contributing to innovation in areas such as AI, assessment and learning analytics.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop and maintain web-based applications and digital tools that support learning, teaching and academic processes.
  • Work closely with colleagues and students to understand challenges, gather requirements and shape effective technical solutions.
  • Develop software from initial concepts and prototypes through to robust, deployable applications.
  • Enhance and support internally developed platforms, responding to feedback and evolving organisational needs.
  • Create digital and AI-enabled tools that support teaching, assessment and student success.
  • Build integrations between learning platforms and other institutional systems.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, accessible, reliable and aligned with agreed technology and data protection standards.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation and share knowledge with colleagues across the team.
  • Contribute technical expertise to decisions around developing, purchasing or integrating new systems and technologies.
  • Identify and assess technical risks, helping to ensure the ongoing resilience and effectiveness of internally developed software.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience developing full-stack web applications using technologies such as C#/.NET, TypeScript, React, relational databases and APIs.
  • Experience taking software from concept or prototype through to a maintainable, well-documented production solution.
  • A strong understanding of secure software development, including authentication, access control and the handling of personal data.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with non-technical colleagues, translating requirements into practical and user-focused solutions.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully and responsibly, with a focus on quality and accountability.
  • Experience working in education, learning technology, training, or developing products that support learning and teaching.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to balance technical detail with the needs of users and the wider organisation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues from a range of technical and non-technical backgrounds.

The postholder can be based at any one of BIMM University’s seven UK campuses (Brighton, London, Essex, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds).
