Full job description

Department: Development Reports to: Head of Operations

Job Title: Web Developer (AI - Led)

Role Overview

We're after a technical-first developer who also knows good design when they see it. You'll help build the future of Visions, using AI and LLM-powered workflows to design, build and ship smarter. You'll also look after our existing client sites, keeping them secure, fast and happy.

This isn't a job for someone who wants to do things the way they've always been done. We want someone who looks for the smarter way, spots what can be automated and gets genuinely excited about new tools.

If you can write clean code and also tell us when a layout feels off, we want to talk to you.

We work hybrid, with four days at home and one day together in the Warrington and surrounding areas. That weekly get-together is where a lot of our collaboration happens, so you'll need to be able to travel to the area once a week.

‍What you'll be doingBuilding forward

  • Building sites and digital experiences with the design team, turning Figma designs into fast, responsive and accessible builds
  • Using AI and LLM tools to speed up development, automate repetitive jobs and build smarter solutions for clients
  • Exploring new tech and bringing ideas to the table that keep us ahead of the curve
  • Working with integrations like HubSpot, Zapier and Microsoft Clarity

Looking after our existing clients

  • Keeping existing client sites up to date, secure and performing well
  • Finding ways to streamline and automate maintenance so it takes less time and causes fewer headaches
  • Auditing sites and spotting opportunities to improve them, from performance boosts to smarter builds
  • Helping the team have honest, useful conversations with clients about what's next for their site

Across the board

  • Using Bitbucket and DeployHQ to keep our code tidy and deployments smooth
  • Handling bug reports and feedback through Marker.io
  • Working closely with designers, and speaking up when something doesn't look or feel right

What we're looking forTechnical first

  • Solid front-end skills: HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Genuine curiosity about AI and LLMs, and ideally experience using them to build and ship work
  • Experience maintaining, securing and optimising live sites
  • Comfortable with Git-based version control and deployment tools
  • Quick to pick up new platforms and tools
  • A problem-solver who looks for the smarter way, not just the familiar one

A good eye

This is the bit that really matters to us. You don't need to be a designer, but you do need to know what good design looks like. You'll notice when spacing is off, when an animation feels clunky or when a page just isn't working for the person using it.

Design experience of any kind is a big plus. That might be a design qualification, time spent in a creative agency, or a portfolio of builds you're proud of because they look great, not just because they work.

Nice to haves

  • Experience in an agency environment
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Some SEO know-how
  • Familiarity with Figma

Where this could go

There's real room to grow here. We're changing how we work and we're looking for the right person could help shape that.

As we move further into AI-led development, there's a clear path into a senior role. That could mean leading our development approach, owning our tech stack decisions or mentoring others as the team grows. We'll back you with training, time to experiment and a say in where we head next.

Who we are

We're Visions Design, an award-winning creative agency based in Warrington, Cheshire, and clients all over the world. Our mission is simple: to create meaningful digital experiences.

We don't build websites the old-fashioned way. We're leaning hard into AI and LLM technology to design and build faster, smarter and better than the traditional agency model allows. "Less but better" isn't just a Dieter Rams quote on our wall. It's how we work.

We've got a decade of award-winning work behind us. Now we're building what comes next, and we want a developer who's excited to help shape it.

What you get

We're a registered disability company and we're proud of it. Everyone here goes through diversity and inclusion training, and we take mental health seriously. Neurodivergent? Brilliant. Our founder is dyslexic and autistic, and we build our workplace so everyone can do their best work.

  • Hybrid working
  • Your birthday off
  • Duvet days, (because sometimes you just need one)
  • Charity day
  • Award-winning work for clients like the National Autistic Society, the Financial Times and the Ministry of Defence
  • A team that genuinely cares about good work

How to apply

Send us your CV and a link to your portfolio or a few sites you've built. We'd love to see work you're proud of, and a line or two on why.

Tell us one thing: how have you used AI to make your work better or faster? There's no wrong answer. We just want to see how you think.
