Full job description

Versantus is building next-generation software and web platforms for some world-class clients. We're expanding our team, and we need an experienced and talented Drupal developer that can take abstract requirements and mould them into a perfectly formed website or application..

What will you be doing?

We're a growing agency and you will be working on a wide range of projects as part of our development team. You’ll be working with your colleagues in our sales, project management, design and development teams. You'll be planning, building and maintaining websites, integrations and complex web applications, often working to challenging deadlines in an agile environment.

We like to work with organisations for which we have a strong cultural fit, and some of our projects include: data rich interfaces for a sustainability charity, a brand new look-and-feel for a major sporting event, and a large-scale web platform, mobile app, and driver reporting interface for an electric vehicle (EV) charging platform.

As a busy agency, we work on dozens of projects at the same time, and although we specialise in high-quality Drupal websites and applications, you'll be exposed to a wide range of other technology including WordPress, Laravel, React, and more. Our devops stack includes Acquia Hosting, WP Engine, Linode and Bitbucket. If you love to plan and build websites and applications with some great opportunities to “geek out”, then we might be right for each other.

About Versantus

Formed in 2009, we're building a team of outstanding web developers delivering strategy, design, development and improvement services for a range of local, national and global clients.

It's important to us to build our business in a sustainable and caring way, and we enjoy working on innovative, challenging, fun, and positive-impact projects that make a difference to our team, customers, and community. Learning and personal development is integral to our success. We provide a generous training budget to help you build the career you want, with a supportive team of experts, formal and informal training, conference opportunities, hack days and more.

We also offer 25 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays), whatever kit you need, a performance-related bonus, and a great working environment just North of Oxford.

You are great for us if...

  • You have 2+ years experience as a Drupal developer, capable of translating abstract requirements into polished websites and applications.
  • Collaboration is your forte, as you seamlessly work alongside sales, project management, design, and development teams to plan, build, and support websites and complex web applications.
  • You’re great at planning: Analysing and documenting requirements, engaging in discussions with colleagues to find suitable solutions.
  • You can craft exceptional software and websites with Drupal, including custom development and integrations with third-party applications.
  • You consider testing critical, not just an afterthought - experience with tools like Behat for automated tests or Jenkins CI platform.
  • You’re comfortable supporting customers, assisting in identifying and resolving bugs.
  • You’re proficient in Drupal APIs and crafting high-quality, well-documented code.
  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead discussions, generate ideas, and comprehend complex problems.
  • A team-oriented mindset, open to feedback, eager to assist others, and committed to continuous learning and skill development.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking, with a keen awareness of the opportunities and risks inherent in enterprise software development.

These would help...

  • You'll be used to an agency environment
  • You understand user-centred development, and can confidently support the planning of a site's information architecture and overall user-experience
  • You've experience with the environment we use: Lando, Docker, Linux, Apache, MySQL
