Job Summary

Voodoochilli is looking for a Designer-Developer to join our remote team. This is a full-time, salaried position, but we may consider part-time or freelance for the right person.

You will be responsible for designing and building custom WordPress websites from the ground up. You will work closely with our Lead Designer, Operations Manager, Managing Director, and other developers to deliver work that is fast, clean and considered. You will also be expected to speak with clients directly at times, so good communication skills are essential.

We only work with WordPress. All builds use bespoke themes and ACF – we do not use page builders or off-the-shelf themes.

We actively encourage the use of AI tools to support your workflow, but this is not a role for a vibe coder. If you rely entirely on AI to write your code without understanding it, this will not be a good fit, solid front-end and WordPress development skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design websites in Figma with a focus on usability and performance
  • Build accessible, mobile-first custom WordPress themes
  • Use ACF and PHP to create flexible and maintainable back ends
  • Write clean HTML, SCSS/CSS, and JavaScript
  • Liaise with clients, respond to feedback, and adjust work accordingly
  • Collaborate daily with our internal team

Requirements

  • Solid experience designing and building custom WordPress sites
  • Comfortable using Figma, HTML, CSS/SCSS, JS, and PHP
  • Understanding of accessibility, SEO, and performance best practices
  • Able to manage your time and projects independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Git (preferred)
  • Based in or near Herefordshire (preferred but not essential)
