Full job description

A fast-growing creative agency is looking for a talented and motivated WordPress Developer to join their digital team. If you're passionate about building high-quality websites, enjoy working with designers, and are ready to contribute to exciting projects for a wide range of clients — this could be the perfect fit.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining bespoke WordPress sites that are as functional as they are visually engaging. Working closely with designers and developers, you’ll help bring ideas to life using clean, scalable code and modern development practices. This is a hybrid role, with 2 days per week in the office, so candidates must be based in the UK and able to commute when required.

  • Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins — tailored to project needs
  • Collaborate with designers to implement responsive, polished front-end experiences
  • Write clean, maintainable code using PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and TypeScript
  • Work with SQL databases for content and data management
  • Configure and maintain server environments using AWS and Linux
  • Troubleshoot and optimise for performance, security, and usability
  • Stay current with web trends and contribute ideas to improve processes and output

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience with custom WordPress development (themes and plugins)
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and front-end principles
  • Proficiency with Visual Studio or similar tools for coding and debugging
  • Solid knowledge of SQL for database management
  • Familiarity with AWS and Linux-based environments
  • Experience working with SCSS and TypeScript
  • A keen eye for detail and excellent problem-solving skills

Benefits

  • Competitive salary between £34,000 and £44,000 (depending on experience)
  • Flexible hybrid working model – typically 3 days remote, 2 days in-office
  • Relaxed and creative team environment
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company pension
  • Clear path for progression and professional development

Sound Good?

Please submit:

  • Links to websites or applications you’ve worked on
  • Your CV

Important: This is a hybrid role. Applicants must have access to transport and be able to attend in-office days regularly. If that isn’t feasible, this role may not be the right fit.

If you're passionate about building high-performing digital experiences and want to be part of a supportive, growing team — we’d love to hear from you.
