Web Content Manager Job Description

As a company, we understand the importance of a strong Internet presence more than ever for the long-term success of our businesses. With this in mind, we would like to recruit for a talented and motivated full time Web Content Manager to join our team. As a Web Content Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing our digital strategy; ensuring it aligns with our company’s vision and resonates with our target audience. Your exceptional writing skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail will contribute to enhancing our online presence, engaging with our audience (new and existing customers) and ultimately driving business growth.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

· Strategic development – develop and execute a clear, comprehensive online strategy, working collaboratively with the Business Directors to ensure it aligns with the wider business objectives.

· Writing content – create SEO optimised content across the website ensuring the content is consistent across all touch points. This content needs to complement the website and may include images, videos and audio.

· Data input – although time consuming, this is a vital task and involves adding and updating new and existing products to the website on a daily basis, ensuring this is optimised for search. May involve resizing imagery, graphics to be developed etc.

· Order processing – Responsible for managing all orders placed on the website. An understanding of Sage would be useful, but not essential as training will be provided.

· Communicating with customers – whether it is by email, message or telephone, customer service skills are a must as they will be part of your daily tasks.

· Reporting – Monitor and analyse content performance, providing the Business Directors with weekly and monthly performance reports. Make data-driven recommendations to ensure optimisation is always at the forefront of what we do and we’re continuously striving for better performance/results.

· eCRM – establish and execute a strategy for customer communications, with a focus on building the database size. Write and execute eNewsletter content on a regular basis, as agreed with the Business Directors. Ensure database is managed, maintained and in accordance with GDPR regulations.

· Social media – define to what extent social media presence is needed for long term success and what is feasible. Integrating social media into the website as a starting point.

· Internal training – work with key members of the business to train and develop their knowledge / skillset of web management.

· External stakeholder management – work collaboratively with third party agency, in accordance with parameters set out.

· Keep a finger on the pulse – stay updated with industry practices, emerging trends to enhance content marketing initiatives continually. Regular competitor analysis would be useful.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a content manager or similar role.
  • Industry experience ideal but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – communicating internally and with customers is a key part of the role.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel.
  • A creative flair with knowledge of Adobe suite (Adobe Photoshop in particular) or other graphic design software.
  • Sage experience, desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality, engaging, SEO-friendly content across digital touchpoints.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), email marketing and social media tools plus basic knowledge of HTML.
  • Experience using analytics tools to monitor content performance and make data-driven decisions like Google Analytics.
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and web design best practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • An analytical mind-set to interpret data and metrics and optimise content performance.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
