Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Weekend Café Assistant to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in a lively environment and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily café operations during weekends, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. Previous experience in a similar setting is advantageous, but full training will be provided. The position offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service and customer engagement while working flexible weekend hours.

Duties

  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea, adhering to established standards.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks, such as assembling sandwiches or snacks, maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area.
  • Serve customers at the counter or table, providing friendly and attentive service.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the café.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system, including giving correct change.
  • Restock supplies as needed, including cups, utensils, and ingredients, to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all café areas, including tables, counters, and equipment, at all times.
  • Support team members during peak times by sharing responsibilities efficiently.

Experience

  • Previous barista experience or work within a food service environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is beneficial.
  • Experience in serving customers with professionalism and courtesy is preferred.
  • Basic maths skills to handle cash transactions accurately are required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service.
  • A positive attitude with excellent organisational skills to balance multiple tasks efficiently.
