Job Title: Part Time Chef - Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Clinic

Location: North Finchley, N12
Contract Type: Part Time role available.

About Us:
We are a private, 10-bed drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic committed to providing a safe, supportive environment for individuals in recovery. Our clinic places a strong emphasis on holistic care, including providing nutritious, whole-food meals that support our patients' physical and mental well-being. We are seeking a talented and dedicated Part-Time Chef to join our team and provide high-quality meals tailored to our patients' dietary requirements and preferences.

Role Overview:
As a Part-Time Chef, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our patients. You will work closely with the care team to ensure that each patient's individual needs are met, including dietary restrictions, allergies, and personal preferences. You will also manage food ordering, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with UK Food Safety Law requirements. The position is designed to cover a 7-day week, 365 days per year, with flexibility in hours depending on the ability to plan and prepare meals in advance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning: Develop and plan weekly menus offering a variety of whole-food, nutritious meals with an emphasis on balanced, healthy options that support recovery.
  • Breakfast Preparation: Plan and prepare a variety of breakfast options, including pre-prepared options for ease of service by care staff (overnight oats, chia pudding, smoothie bowls, etc.).
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals for patients with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Meals should meet various dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, low-sodium, and low-sugar.
  • Food Procurement & Cost Management: Plan and manage the weekly food shop using a variety of service providers to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising food quality.
  • Monitor Food Waste: Track food waste, adjust portion sizes, and repurpose leftovers as needed to minimize waste.
  • Compliance with Food Safety Regulations: Ensure all food preparation and handling comply with UK Food Safety Law, including food labeling, temperature control, and hygiene standards.
  • Dietary Requirements & Preferences: Adapt menus to meet the specific dietary needs, allergies, and preferences of individual patients.
  • Staff Collaboration: Work alongside care staff to ensure smooth meal service and help with the coordination of meal times.

Working Hours:
The role will be covered by two chefs to ensure a 7-day operation throughout the year. Hours are flexible, depending on the ability to plan and prepare meals in advance. A typical schedule could look like:

  • Weekdays: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (to cover lunch and dinner prep and clear up)
  • Weekends: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (to cover Lunch and dinner prep and clear up)

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a healthcare or high-demand catering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements, and food allergies.
  • Experience in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management.
  • Ability to adapt menus to meet specific patient needs and dietary restrictions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A strong understanding of UK Food Safety laws and regulations.
  • A passion for healthy, nutritious cooking and supporting individuals in recovery.
