Welder/Fabricator (with Plasma experience)

  • Location: Hemerdon Mine, Plympton (PL7 5BW)
  • Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
  • Pay: £47,000 (£21.51 per hour)
  • Hours: 7am - 4pm

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Welder/Fabricator with Plasma experience to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components using plasma cutting technology. Your expertise will help ensure the quality and precision of our structural and equipment fabrication projects, supporting our ongoing mining operations.

** This role requires you to pass a Drug and Alcohol test on day one **

Responsibilities

  • Operate plasma cutting equipment to precisely cut sheet metal and structural components
  • Perform TIG welding and other welding techniques to join metals according to specifications
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to shape and assemble metal parts
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for fabrication projects
  • Conduct quality checks on welded and fabricated components to meet safety and quality standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times
  • Assist in the assembly of metal structures, ensuring proper fitment and alignment
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to manufacture components to required standards and tolerances.
  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair mild steel and stainless-steel structures and components.

Experience You'll Need To Succeed

  • Relevant fabrication, welding, or engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, apprenticeship or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in fabrication and welding within industrial, quarrying, mining, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environments.
  • Plasma cutting - This is a must!
  • MIG/MAG Welding/MMA (Stick) Welding/TIG Welding
  • Oxy-acetylene cutting
  • Heavy fabrication and structural welding
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic IT literacy for reporting and documentation purposes.
  • Physically fit and capable of working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience using design/operating software in conjunction with a plasma cutting table, preferabley SWIFT CUT operating systems.
