Resident Doctor (Senior registrar) – Adult Critical Care / ITU Level 1-3 Unit

  • Location: London, St John’s Wood. The Wellington Hospital,
  • Contract: Permanent, Part-Time 30 Hrs Per Week.
  • Days/Shifts: Monday – Sunday - 24 Hours Shifts pattern
  • Salary: Circa £75,0000 - £80,000 FTE Per Annum (DOE)

We are seeking Senior Registrar-level doctors with a background in intensive care medicine (with experience in management of cardiac, neuro and hepatobiliary post-operative patients, preferably with final exams in ICU or anaesthesia completed), to work on the Adult ITU Ward at The Wellington Hospital, North and South Building. You’ll work alongside leading consultants and an exceptional multidisciplinary team to care for patients, adults both short stay and long stay complex needs with a 24-hrs shift pattern.

While we are a Consultant Led Service, we believe in empowering our Resident Doctors, so your role could become expand as much as you wish. You’ll have the chance to be involved in audits, projects and quality improvement initiatives alongside the opportunity to join a variety of internal networks. This could be to help steer the services you deliver, speaking up or patient satisfaction focus groups, clinical governance or MDT meetings. Giving you an opportunity to network with your peers, share best practice and expand your knowledge in an unrivalled setting.

What you will do:

  • Providing day-to-day inpatient medical management for adult inpatients of mixed specialties on the Critical Care Ward (ICU/HDU)
  • clerking and managing planned and unplanned admissions, daily ward rounds, and routine / urgent clinical reviews and documenting accordingly.
  • Collaborating closely with internationally recognised consultants, specialist therapists, and nurses in all aspects of medical care, of short-stay and long-stay patients
  • Completing a range of medical procedures, including insertion of central venous catheter/vascaths, insertion of arterial lines, airway management (e.g. intubation, management of tracheostomies)
  • Reviewing unwell patients across the hospital and supporting junior medical Teams
  • Participating in resus teams activities

What You’ll Bring

  • GMC registration and licence to practise in the UK

  • Completion of Foundation training and at least IMT-2/Core Medical Training (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 3-4 specialist experience in Critical Care Wards / ideally with cardiac or neurological ITU patients.

  • A passion for teamwork and delivering exceptional patient care

  • Current ALS

  • Able to manage complex airways
