Full job description

We are currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate and experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. The position is 25-30 hours per week.

If you are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and have experience working within a primary care setting, we would welcome your application for these exciting opportunities.

The successful candidate will join an established, caring and supportive nursing team, currently comprising 3 Practice Nurses and 3 HCAs.

Applicants must be qualified nurses with current NMC registration and be able to demonstrate ongoing continuing professional development. Experience within general practice or primary care is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate should have general practice nurse skills and be competent in chronic disease management with evidence of accreditation. The skills would also include:

Cytology

Child Immunisations

Removal of Sutures

Travel vaccinations

Family Planning

Wound Care

Diabetes

INR (management of anticoagulation)

Injections and Vaccinations as per the national immunisation programme.

General Nursing duties as required.

Telephone and face to face consultations are a key part of the job, so patient care and good communication skills are essential.

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within the GP surgery setting

Provide health education and counselling to patients and their families

Requirements:

Registered Nurse qualification and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Previous experience working in a primary care or GP surgery setting is essential.

Sound knowledge of general practice nursing procedures and best practices.

Competency in conducting patient assessments and managing common health conditions.

Proficient in administering medications and treatments.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages.

Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMIS) systems is preferred.

Working Hours and Benefits:

Part-time position: 25-30 hours per week (occasional Saturday working to cover enhanced access hours, approx 2 a year)
