Join our Wessex House Team, part of the Somerset Care Group, in Somerton.
What you’ll be doing:
- To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines with service users assessed as needing nursing care, within the home and take responsibility for:
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their clinical care, including participation in service user reviews
- Promoting a person centred approach to care, in team working with other members of the home staff team and members of the wider multi-disciplinary care team
- Delivery of clinical interventions
- Assisting in personal care as required
- Maintaining accurate, complete and sufficiently detailed
- Planning and organising own time and that of care staff, providing day to day supervision of care provided:
- Monitors and checks work undertaken to ensure that it is safe, effective, caring and responsive to the needs of the service users
- Teaches and acts as a role model / mentor to less experienced staff
- Maintaining effective communication whilst ensuring service user confidentiality.
- Developing and maintaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with PREP requirements and to maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice.
- To work in accordance with Somerset Care policies and its Strategic Plan and contribute towards achieving its objectives.
6. To maintain the safety and well being of staff, service users and visitors during the course of your shift.
7. To participate in maintaining a clean environment and to work in line with the Company policy on Infection Prevention and Control, according to your role.
8. To implement the Company's policy in relation to the safe storage, handling and recording of medicines and treatments.
9. To participate in induction training, statutory training, follow-up refresher courses and staff meetings.
10. To maintain an awareness of evidence-based practice.
11. To participate in clinical supervision and to contribute to annual appraisal.
12. Assist in the and development of care staff and/or student nurses or newly qualified Registered Nurses as required.
13. To contribute to the completion of audits/monitoring as part of the Company’s Quality Assurance scheme or external requirements.
What we’re looking for:
· Registered Nurse with the NMC
· Thorough and up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice
· Previous nursing experience
· Understanding of NMC Code of Practice and the requirements of it for own practice and behaviour
· Understanding the needs of older people
· Prepared to undertake basic IT Training
· Empathetic and caring approach, able to promote dignity
· Competent in all basic RN procedures
· Ability to remain calm under pressure, Caring approach, Reliability, Ability to manage your own time, Honesty and respect for confidentiality, Clean and tidy appearance, Ability to communicate clearly (to understand Service Users and make yourself clearly understood), Approachable
· Ability to work as part of a team
· Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
· A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for people
· Able to work alternate weekends
· Hours available (per week): 24 hours
