Full job description

Oxfordshire based full-time housekeeper

We are seeking a professional and highly experienced Housekeeper for a beautiful large family home in Oxfordshire. This role is ideal for an individual who possess a refined background in private service and a comprehensive understanding of how to maintain a traditional, high-end household.

The successful candidate will work within a supportive environment, collaborating with an existing team that oversees the interior of the property. A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to take direction within a structured team are essential.

The successful candidate must possess proven experience within a significant private residence and a thorough understanding of the high standards required in a traditional household. It is essential to have a team-oriented mindset, a professional and adaptable approach to daily tasks, and the absolute discretion necessary for such a role. Furthermore, excellent communication skills and fluency in English are required to ensure effective coordination with both the principals and the wider team.

The role is predominantly based at the Oxfordshire property with frequent travel to another nearby UK property and there may be a requirement to occasionally travel to the European properties, for short periods.

You will be working within a well-run household where staff are respected and valued.

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for a discreet, capable and service driven professional who takes real care and pride in maintaining a refined and well-run home.

You must be dog friendly and light dog washing is part of the daily routine during rainy months. There are dedicated dog wash facilities.

Working 40 hours per week over 5 days, with two consecutive days off. Occasional Bank Holiday work will be required and you might be asked to stay later if the family are entertaining and you will accrue any overtime as extra time off in lieu, time taken to be agreed with the Estate Manager on each occasion.

Duties, to include but not limited to:

Maintaining a large family home to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and presentation.

Full laundry and ironing duties, including care of delicate fabrics and high-end clothing.

Care of traditional fixtures, fine art and antiques.

Deep cleaning when the client is not in residence.

Regular window cleaning.

Criteria:

Fluent English and full right to work in the UK is required.

Proven experience within a similar private household.

Holding a valid UK driving licence is preferred but not essential.

The successful candidate will be subject to security vetting and reference checks.

This position is ideally live-in, although daily will be considered for the right person. Please note that visitors, partners or pets are not allowed on the Estate. Live in and when occasionally visiting other properties may mean sharing a property with another female (separate bedrooms but shared kitchen/lounge etc). Sky TV and Wi-Fi as part of your live-in accommodation.

The salary on offer is £38,000 gross per annum, with a discretionary performance bonus. Holiday entitlement is 24 days per annum + bank holidays. Holidays to be taken when the family are away.

Pay: £38,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
