VACANCY

Position: Facilities Cleaning Operative

Up to 16 hours per week

Salary: Grade A, spinal point 2 (£24,451 per annum pro rata), plus mileage

Reporting to: Facilities Cleaning Supervisor

Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council is seeking to employ a part-time cleaner for a range of cleaning activities at various Council owned properties within their area. They must hold a clean, full UK driving license and have their own transport and be flexible to accommodate service requirements.

The ideal candidate will have suitable experience in a commercial cleaning environment and be able to work under their own initiative. The role involves lone working, occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Main Purpose of role:

1. To maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the Town Councils facilities.

2. To maintain a suitable level of consumable items for day to day use in the Town Councils facilities and advise your line manager appropriately.

3. To assist in providing a high-quality and flexible service to the community and facility users at all Town Council-owned assets.

4. To undertake tasks as directed by your line manager ensuring compliance with all relevant Health & safety legislation, best practice and the Council’s Health and Safety at Work Policy Statement.

5. To ensure that all CoSHH requirements are adhered to and follows all Health and Safety Executive guidance and legislation.

6. To fulfil all personal obligations & requirements with regard to the Council’s policies and procedures with particular emphasis on equal opportunities, customer care, security, work standards and promotion of the Council’s values.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities (not in order of priority):

1. To open and close the facilities at the specified times on a rota.

2. To clean facilities in their entirety including toilets, sinks, worktops, floors, walls, windows, drains, rubbish/litter bins, office desks, office equipment, high level areas such as door frames, picture rails etc.

3. To comply with the Council’s Health and Safety at Work Policy statement and to carry out all works in accordance with any relevant method statement, risk assessment and COSHH data sheet.

4. To use all safety equipment provided by the Council when carrying out tasks to ensure the safety of yourself, other employees, tenants, and the general public.

5. To operate and use various items of machinery, equipment, power and hand-tools used in your day to day activities including electric floor buffers, ladders, extendable pole systems, pressure washers etc.

6. To assist in providing a caretaking service to all Council-owned buildings including setting up and clearing away tables, chairs etc. prior to and after any event.

7. To assist in the opening and closing of all Council-owned buildings at the beginning and end of the day to ensure all such premises are secured and alarmed. Such duties will be carried out on a rota basis for which, overtime will be paid.

8. To attend any training course deemed necessary for the carrying out of the general duties.

9. To assist in the undertaking of minor routine maintenance on equipment, tools and machinery.

10. To transport yourself and any consumable items between all Town Council Sites.

This job description is as currently applies and will be reviewed regularly. You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time, including development activities, which are within your capabilities and grading of the post.

Responsible for:

· Cleaning of all Town Council Facilities.

· Arranging weekend and evening work rotas with other employees so that all operational needs are met.

· Maintaining own PPE in good condition as instructed.

· Maintaining all cleaning equipment as instructed.

Pay: £24,451.00 per year
