Full job description

We are looking for an experienced blind fitter to join our family run business.

The factory and office is based in Wigan but you will be working across St Helens and Warrington fitting blinds in residential and commercial properties.

Duties include -

Coming into the factory each morning, collecting your job sheets and diary for the day, and locating and loading stock for that day's fits.

Fitting a range of blinds, including verticals, rollers, venetians, romans, perfect fits, day and nights, motorised and roof blinds, correctly and ensuring they are functioning as they should, in residential and commercial properties.

Following clear and precise instructions on your paperwork.

Able to repair and problem solve on site.

Collecting money from customers, via card payment, cash or BACS and returning any money and paperwork to the factory the following morning.

Essential -

Able to read a tape measure accurately

Honest and trustworthy

Reliable

Must have excellent people skills with a pleasant and friendly manner

Attention to details

Driving licence (company van will be available)

The ability to measure and fit for shutters would be an added bonus!

Working hours usually between 8:30am - 6pm, but may need to work longer if required. Hours can be adjusted accordingly if you are required to work later. Working days are usually Monday-Friday however some Saturdays may be required.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in carpentry and related skills, enabling them to tackle a variety of installation challenges with confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and assess window dimensions to determine the appropriate treatment size and type.
  • Install a range of window treatments, including blinds, shades, curtains, and shutters.
  • Ensure all installations are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients during the installation process.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise during installation and provide solutions as needed.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring they are safe for use.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.

Skills
The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Proficiency in carpentry techniques, with experience in building and fabricating custom installations.
  • Basic electrical knowledge for handling any wiring associated with motorised window treatments.
  • Ability to perform painting tasks as required for finishing touches on installations.
  • Familiarity with plumbing principles may be beneficial for specific installations.
  • Experience in roofing can be advantageous when working on upper-storey installations.
  • Skills in masonry or plastering may be useful for integrating treatments into existing structures.
  • Welding experience is a plus for custom metal installations or supports.
