Full job description
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee uPVC Window & Door Fitter / Labourer to join our well-established installation team based in Pontypool.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, physical work and wants to learn a skilled trade and develop a career as a qualified window and door fitter.
No previous window fitting experience is necessary. You'll work alongside experienced fitters, gaining hands-on experience installing uPVC windows and doors on new-build housing developments while developing the skills, knowledge and qualifications required to progress as a fitter.
We're looking for someone who is reliable, comfortable with early starts and physical work, pays attention to detail and, most importantly, has a genuine willingness to learn and drive to succeed.
What you'll be doing
As a Trainee Fitter / Labourer, you'll support our experienced fitting teams with:
- Installing plots of uPVC windows and French doors on new-build housing developments
- Preparing products, materials, tools and equipment for installation
- Loading and unloading the company van
- Handling and moving window and door products safely
- Supporting the fitter throughout the installation process
- Learning the correct procedures for installing windows and doors
- Keeping working areas clean, safe and organised
- Completing required paperwork and site documentation
- Carrying out occasional factory support work when required
- Following company processes, Health & Safety requirements and individual customer/site policies
- Developing your practical knowledge and installation skills as you work towards becoming a qualified fitter
Training & Qualifications
You do not need to be a qualified window fitter to apply.
This is a development role designed to give the successful candidate the practical experience, training and qualifications needed to progress within window and door installation.
As part of your development, you'll have the opportunity to work towards the GQA Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Fenestration Installation.
You'll receive hands-on experience working alongside established fitting teams while developing towards the level expected of a qualified fitter.
What we're looking for
Although you don't need previous window fitting experience, you will need:
- A full UK driving licence and your own transport
- A willingness to undertake the training and qualifications required for the role
- An interest in developing a career within uPVC window and door installation
- To be comfortable with physical, manual work
- To be comfortable with early starts and working on new-build construction sites
- Good attention to detail
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- A willingness to listen, learn and follow instructions
- The ability to work effectively as part of a fitting team
- A commitment to working safely
- A positive approach built around integrity, teamwork, determination and pride
Previous experience working on new-build construction sites would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
CSCS Card
As the role involves working on new-build construction sites, you'll need the appropriate CSCS card.
Don't already have one? Support is available following a successful job offer, with guidance and assistance provided through the process.
Why Join Us?
This isn't intended to be just a labouring job. We're looking for someone who wants the opportunity to learn, develop and progress into a skilled window and door fitter.
You'll benefit from:
- A full-time, permanent position
- Hands-on training alongside experienced window and door fitters
- Development towards the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Fenestration Installation
- CSCS support where required
- Experience working within the new-build construction industry
- A clear opportunity to develop your window and door installation skills
- A supportive, established fitting team

- Band B benefits following successful completion of your 6-month probationary period, including:
- Perkbox – employee discounts and perks
- Medicash – help towards everyday healthcare costs
- Work-Life Flex
