Lead Window & Door Installer - Premium Aluminium

Habify - Norwich / East Anglia
Full-time | Permanent | Immediate start available
£38,000–£42,000 per year, depending on experience
Company van provided

About the role

Habify is a premium window and door company based in Norwich, installing high quality aluminium, flush uPVC and timber products across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

We're looking for an exceptionally skilled Lead Window & Door Installer to lead a two person installation team.

This role is about much more than getting a window or door into an opening. We work on high quality residential properties and expect installations to be properly finished, inside and out.

We're looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, notices the small details and leaves a job looking finished without relying on trims to cover everything.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead a two person installation team, working alongside an Installer's mate / labourer.
  • Install premium windows, doors, bifolds and sliding doors, with Origin aluminium making up the majority of our work.
  • Install high end flush uPVC and occasional timber/Accoya products.
  • Read surveys, installation drawings and specifications and plan work accordingly.
  • Remove existing products carefully and minimise damage to surrounding finishes.
  • Carry out high quality internal and external finishing.
  • Cut out and replace damaged bricks where required repointing neatly around frames and cill horns.
  • Carry out minor masonry and rendering repairs.
  • Use fillers and finishing products where appropriate rather than unnecessarily covering work with trims.
  • Carry out neat caulking, sealing and silicone work using the correct products for the substrate and application.
  • Carry out basic carpentry and making good around openings.
  • Ensure frames, thresholds, drainage, fixings, packers and perimeter seals are installed correctly.
  • Identify potential issues before they become problems.
  • Keep sites very clean, organised and respectful of the customer's property.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, explain how the installation will progress and keep them informed throughout the job.
  • Take responsibility for the overall quality of the finished installation.

What we're looking for

Previous experience installing Origin aluminium products is essential.

We are looking for an experienced installer who can hit the ground running rather than someone who needs to be taught the fundamentals of premium installation.

You'll also need:

  • Significant window and door installation experience.
  • Excellent finishing and making good skills.
  • Strong experience installing aluminium windows, doors, bifolds and sliders.
  • Very high attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of sealants, silicones, polymers, caulks, fillers and appropriate finishing materials.
  • Checking the following day's job before leaving.
  • Uploading installation photos to project records.
  • Reporting snags immediately rather than somebody discovering them later.
  • Keeping the van organised and stocked.
  • Directing and developing their Installer's mate or labourer.
  • Calling the office if the programme is running ahead or behind.
  • Giving the customer a proper handover at completion.
  • Competence with minor brickwork, repointing, rendering and carpentry.
  • Confidence diagnosing and solving problems on site.
  • Excellent punctuality and reliability.
  • A professional and presentable manner.
  • Confidence communicating with customers in their homes.
  • Respect for customers properties and an exceptionally tidy approach to work.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Fenestration qualifications such as NVQ/MTC or equivalent are advantageous but not essential.

Further product specific training can be provided where appropriate, but Origin installation experience is required from day one.

Our standard

We aren't looking for someone who considers an installation finished because the product opens, closes and has trim around it.

We want an installer who looks at the complete finished job.

If brickwork needs making good, it gets made good.

If something needs filling, caulking, repointing or finishing properly, it gets finished properly.

If something isn't right, we want you to flag it and solve it rather than leave it for somebody else.

Our customers are buying premium products and we expect the quality of the installation and finishing to reflect that.

Hours

Monday - Friday

Our teams will typically be expected to arrive on site around 7:45am–8:00am and complete a full working day on site. Reasonable local travel forms part of the role. Where exceptionally long distance travel is required, working hours will be adjusted accordingly.

Some occasional additional or weekend work may be available.

What we offer

  • £38,000–£42,000 salary depending on experience and ability.
  • Company van.
  • Company uniform.
  • Company pension.
  • Long term permanent position.
  • Installer's mate / labourer working alongside you.
  • Premium products and predominantly high quality residential work.
  • Further product and technical training.
  • Potential performance related bonus.
  • Immediate start available.

For an exceptional installer with extensive Origin experience and outstanding finishing skills, we're happy to discuss salary based on ability.

We're looking for somebody who wants to be known for the quality of their work and is proud of it, not how quickly they can get the job fitted.

Pay: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company car
  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Application question(s):
