Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of warehouse tasks, including materials handling, stock management, and shipping & receiving. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a fast-paced logistics environment, contributing to the efficient operation of our warehouse. Prior warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge are advantageous, but full training will be provided. The position is paid and suitable for individuals who thrive in a physically active role.

Responsibilities

  • Handling materials efficiently and safely within the warehouse setting
  • Operating forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment (training provided)
  • Managing stock levels using the warehouse management system (WMS)
  • Picking and packing orders accurately to meet customer requirements
  • Loading and unloading goods from lorries, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage
  • Organising stock storage areas, ensuring items are correctly stocked and easily accessible
  • Conducting quality control checks on incoming and outgoing products
  • Assisting with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and labelling
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
  • Supporting mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance when required

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in warehousing or logistics is preferred but not essential; full training will be provided
  • Knowledge of materials handling techniques and warehouse safety procedures
  • Valid forklift licence is advantageous but not mandatory; training can be arranged for suitable candidates
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is desirable
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
  • Mechanical aptitude or knowledge of basic machinery is a plus
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in picking, packing, and stock management
  • Physical fitness to handle long periods of standing and manual handling tasks
