Work experience placement – Heathrow Operations and Engineering

Location: UK – London Heathrow

Placement dates: 5 day placement during the Spring Term 2020 (January-March 2020)

Closing Date: Wednesday 25th September 2019

The British Airways Work Experience Programme showcases areas of the business that are of interest to students looking to pursue a career within the airline industry. Our programme has recently been accredited with the Gold National Standard by Fair Train for offering quality 5 day placements. Many students see this opportunity as the start of their British Airways journey often coming back to apply for permanent positions or to join one of our apprenticeship schemes.

British Airways Operations covers behind the scenes departments including airport and engineering. We need to ensure that all customers embarking on a journey with British Airways have a smooth and pleasant process from start to finish. Engineering not only provides full support for the entire British Airways fleet which has over 300 aircraft, they also serve a number of other international airlines including many of our alliance partners. All of these departments support the operation to ensure the 1,000 flights that are operated each day will be ready for flying.

We have opportunities in the below teams:

  • Fleet Support Facility
  • Fleet Support Unit
  • Longhaul Casualty
  • Heathrow Operations
  • CAMO

Who can apply

The British Airways Work Experience Programme is aimed at full time students in the Heathrow community either at school or college (not university).

To apply, you must:

  • Have a valid passport
  • Be in Year 10 or above
  • Be in full time education in school or college (not university)
  • Attend a school or college based in one our local community OR have a relative that works for British Airways.
