Full job description
Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.
Who We Are…
When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…
From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.
Our studios are considered one of the foremost motion picture and television production and post-production facilities in the world. They inform, engage, and transport audiences to new worlds. The key to that lies with our Studio Operations group, which includes areas like soundstage/backlot set rentals, events, design, culinary, construction, landscaping and much more. Whether it’s hosting an unforgettable studio tour, creating an optimal workspace, or equipping talent to tell the best stories, these teams lay the foundation for the memorable experiences we provide.
Your New Role...
As a Conform & Colour Assistant, you'll play a vital role in the finishing process behind premium film and television projects. Working alongside talented colourists and artists, you'll be at the heart of a fast-paced, high-end post-production environment, helping transform raw footage into polished final deliverables. If you're passionate about colour grading, editorial workflows, automation, and the technical craft behind stunning visuals, this is an opportunity to develop your skills on some of the industry's most exciting projects.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Management of incoming data (from shoots and Editorial), outgoing data (to Broadcasters and Online Portals) and the backup, archiving and restoring of projects as required.
- Knowledge of Editorial practice and edit systems e.g. Avid, ISIS, FCP, Premiere Pro, associated EDLs and how to manage files during import and export. Operation of these editing tools for basic tasks will be required from time to time. This will include digitizing, syncing of rushes, media file creation, labelling, project restores and creating EDLs.
- Setting up projects for colourists within the Baselight system and assisting with exporting and rendering.
- Establishing transcoding templates and undertaking transcoding tasks as required by artists and the production team.
- Front-line technical support for the colourist team, which requires knowledge of video and audio systems used throughout the facility, i.e. monitors, video router, projector.
- Quality Checking of Masters and Master Files. This checking is not just technical assessment but is also subjective assessment; looking for image artefacts that may not have been picked up in the final checks of a master by the Colourist or Flame artist.
- Workflow troubleshooting and reviewing of processes to ensure efficiency and, where necessary, recommend improvements.
- To show a full understanding of tapeless workflows from camera to final delivery. Knowledge of all major digital cameras and standard practices around extractions, VFX pulls, colour management and delivery formats.
- Interact with the Alfred automated system in order to complete tasks and troubleshoot issues.
Qualifications & Experiences...
- Extensive experience as a Baselight operator, preferably within a high end facility environment.
- Experience with Resolve, Avid Media Composer, FCP and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Good level knowledge of Flame and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Intermediate IT Skills, preferably with strong knowledge of Linux
- Exposure to processes and etiquette around high end Television Drama and Feature Projects.
- Must be familiar with digitizing, transcoding, logging, syncing and grouping
- Must have experience with EDL's, OMF/AAF's, various quicktime codecs, and have a working knowledge of frame rates, formats, and codecs
- Familiarity with Conditions of Service, Contract of Employment, Health and Safety and their impact on staff.
